The fastest people have gone with an A4 tranny?
I currently have a MVB 700R4 in my Firebird... it worked great last year running countless 11.0's on motor and several 10 second spray passes... I am about to install a bigger motor in the car (going from 385CI to 427CI LS7 style) and was wondering if I should take out the A4 and go with a non OD tranny? Has anyone out there been able to run consistant 9's with a 700R4 or 4L60E? My tranny guy is outstanding and will make sure my car is always up and running, but I don't want to be faced with pulling out the tranny on a regular basis... As an FYI, the car will be just under 3000lbs and should make ~550RWHP through the locked converter... I will be hitting it with a TNT ring kit from time to time, but plan on running on the motor most of the time...

Fastest F-Body might be Cablebandit at like a 10.1 or something.
Fastest Y-Body would be StealthC5 running a spectacular 9.4. But I'm not sure if he was going through transmissions.

My car has a 4l60e and has went 9.80 on a poor pass the car is set up to run 1/8 mile due to are local track is 1/8 and the 1/4 is over 100 miles away but the car will 60ft low 1.30's on are 9.80 pass it was a high 1.40 and the n20 was under 10.1 and hit the limmiter at about 1200 feet, 1/8 mile time was 6.28 i believe, I went 6.022 1/8 on a mid 1.50 60ft so i would say the next time we go to the 1/4 it should click somewhere around the 9.30 mark.
The biggest failure i have had with this trans is 1 snaped out put shaft.

The problem i have with the 4l60e is the cost.. Im sure you can build one to handle the abuse, but look at what it will cost.. for the dollar i just dont think its the most reliable tranny on the street for the track..

I'm running a nice 4l60e and LOVE IT, but of course I'm only going 12.0s.

Yeah I was going to have a 4l60 built for my GTO but then I realized that is would be more of a pite to get an A4 into a manual car due to PCM issues as well as lots of other stuff. My car is just waiting on the custom carbon fiber DS to come in and I should have it back on the road by the end of next week or early the week after!
