im running a 26" et radial-which are suprisingly tall compared to a stock tire.
running a new setup with a bigger cam, but 2.73s now. converter is a 4,000 yank....whatever their street/strip is (ss?) feels really tight off the line compared to what im used to (vig3200 and pt4400) which would usually net me 1.5s and 1.4s on a 26" tire and 3.73s. i couldnt get below a 1.64 with this combo yesterday in 3500 DA. im not complaining much because its as fast as it was before, but more tame now.
just wondering what more gear would do with this setup. im hitting 3rd about 50 feet before the end of the 1/4 with these gears.

If you run a taller tire it will "take some of the gear out." It's a whole lot of math that I never cared enough to understand. For example if you run a taller tire with the same gears your rpms will drop at a given mph. There is more to it than that but I'm sure someone who knows the full deal will chime in.
But going from a 2.73 to a 3.73 gear on the same size tire should net you some gain. Never ran my LT with the 2.73 gears but rule of thumb is you'll see 0.3 at the track.
As a side note my LT was getting into fourth just after I crossed the line with the 3.73 gears. I've been told that's the goal when you change rear ratio.
