M6 guys, best 60' stock on stock tires?
Hey guys I made it down to the track friday and am still trying to get the launch down. I was in the 2.4's for a few runs, then to a 2.3 and finally a 2.2. On that run I ran a 13.66@104. I'm having trouble, but I think I've heard of people getting 2.0's stock. I guess that might put my ET around 13.3? Wouldn't be bad at all, all I have is a lid.
I tried feathering the clutch and slowly flooring it in 1st, I guess that's still too much though. I'm running 275/17 Eagle F1's at around 25 psi. Any tips?

When I was bone stock I was at a 2.3-2.4 on the factory 245 16's at like 18 psi. I ran a 13.80 at 104.6mph after having the car for like 2 weeks. I probably could have done a lil better but I only launched the car a couple times on the street befor I went to the track.

last night i ran 6 times with my best 60' at 2.198. That run was 13.386 at 107.16. I was running 31 psi. While doing a burnout before the runs i noticed heavy wear in the center of the tire. I am going to run around 28 psi next time

Why are you doing a burnout with street tires?

a quick burnout to clean the tread is all you need. Anything more is just wasting treadlife as a regular street tire will not heat up the way a drag slick is designed to. Totally different designs. I used to work as a tire engineer. And lowering the pressure a couple lbs to 25 or 28 won't hurt either, but don't go any lower. I've hit 2.08 before but that was on an extremely well prepped track at Norwalk, OH. That was only launching at about 1500 rpm also then flooring it. Some guys will tell you they can get a faster 60' by keeping the rpm's up and feathering the clutch the first half. No thanks. A set of drag slicks is easier to put on that a replacing a clutch.

Whether a burnout of street tires will benefit the launch and shifts depend on the compound of the particular tires. So try 5 passes each way and compare the results.
On stock Z06 SuperCar tires both (C5 and C6) I heat them to first good smoke using an identical procedure to drag radials. Just a little less smoke. This typically drops about a tenth off the 60' and another .10-.15 off the 330' split.
Knocking 3-4 psi off the rear cold pressure works well too to hook the launch and the shifts.

2.03-2.08 on kdws'. I would use 2k and slip the clutch, this would result in minimal tire spin and a somewhat decent sixty foot. Just a brief burnout to clean the tires out, more of a blip than burnout actually.

On 245/40/17 kdws BFGs, stock rear stuff I ran 2.0z at the best.
On 245/17 Nitto DRs best was 1.81, with consistent1.9x
On Nitto 275s, with BMR airbags at 18 psi and nittos at 21 I got a 1.780, with consistent low 1.8s, first night on the setup. Experimenting to get my M6 4100 pound tank down the strip with a 1.6x, which is probably as good as I'll get with the IRS setup and Nittos.
MT streets?? Hmm
