Default adding a delay box

Well i would like to start running in super pro with my dad (he has a dragster).

I have a built tranny but not sure how to add a trans brake.

before i think about launching with the trans brake im going to get a Dana rearend.

Anyone ever add a delay box to their car?

ps. Im going to have a guy who builds dragsters install everything.

Thanks,
Eric

if you drive the car at all on the street i wouldnt put a delay box in at all... any more i wouldnt even try to run super pro unless it is atleast a 4.80 car or under 7.20....
yeah it can be done though... youll either have to get a 2-step or dead head the converter with the T-brake (old school style)

but like i said if you drive the car at all that stupid box will be in the way.

The way i plan to have it done is have the box sit in the glove box or arm rest area.

The only reason i want to run superpro vs. pro is because my dad/I race super pro in our dragster. Pretty much everyone i know at the track is in super pro.

The trans brake is an internal major change. You have to have a specific valve body and solenoid. It's not a bolt on. I don't remember the cost, probably $300 minimum. To be honest. I've been running a full blown 2500 HP race glide for 5 years and it comes like that.

Not to be insulting to anyone, but I don't see why anyone can't run a delay box on any car. If your fast enough to run at your track in the box class, what does it matter. If you're slow, then get used to leaving 1st every race. Leave it set on zero when you don't need it, if u have a modern fancy delay box like mine, u can have 2 settings, 1 for pro and 1 for full tree.

Good luck, hope you find a good guy to help with the upgrades. You will love it, I will never, and I mean never race without a brake again. Your thumb is much more consistant than foot racing.

everyone in SP has good lights also.... and they all have a delay box... you gonna have a hard time competing with "race cars" against your heavy, slow street car... plus it has a huge blindspot....

I'd run pro and thats it... SP is soo competitive its not even funny.

and your shifting isnt done by a timer either....

that biondo box is more than you will ever use in that car save yourself some money and just get a manual deadenbear box with crossover if anything.

plus that biondo 450 will not fit in your console and i doubt it will fit in your glove box.

Super Pro is not the place for learning, that's for sure. You will get .510-20 lights against you on almost every pass. I would listen to TY. The dragster guys will kill you, they run the number every pass, can see much better than a door car, and they R/T more consistant & better because they never spin on the line.

I have the Biondo box, it's pretty big. They just outlawed most of it's features, so it might be a waste of money. Get a cheap crossover, but in S/P you will be the slowest guy most of the time, so u might not even need it.

I was just offering help, but I think Pro with a brake will let u go more rounds. It's your car, and do what you want. Just remember, S/P is where all the super racers are when not racing at a Div or Nat race. Practice, practice, practice. Good luck, be safe.

Thanks for the other advice. I am far from learning. I have been racing jr. dragsters since i was 8. I have my license and race in our dagster. My car has 0 problem with spinning and has been deadly consistant the times i have went.

Right now im just entertaining the idea.

well all i know is in SP you either want to be at the top of the bracket (4.5x) or at the bottom (7.70+) that way its harder for the dragsters to pedal you at the end because they are doing 130+ and your doing about 85mph... that makes them race you honest.

yeah and beside the fact of how hard it would be basically there are internal and external transbrakes on a trans and for the 4l60e I think rossler makes one but you have to piggyback the valve body to the stock one and then requires big modification to the electronics on the trans and a deep pan but it can be done just race the dragster that you have now and that biondo box is crazy expensive I have a dedenbear lightning series that has all the goodies for less than 300 after the jegs racer discount
