Default I Need Pictures Of Cut Metal For Weight Reduction

I need picture of what I can cut off without having my car fall apart down the street. I know SUX2BU knows alot about this.

Yeah Im interested in this too. My car is already a tin can but there is always room for improvement.

good topic...

i know there are some areas under the front fenders that can be hole sawed. I saw that in a topic before. i wish i had the pics of the car that had the swiss cheese cut strut towers

They dont just holesaw the front fenders they cut em off. I might break out the cutoff wheel tomorrow and start cuttin. I will take some pics if I do.

wow, cut 'em off? i've only seen the holesaw ones for under the covers i wanna see the cut off ones!

I cut them off. Doesnt cause any problems what so ever. I believe the were about 4lb each side. It adds up fast.

Anybody cut off the frame stubs that attach the front bumper support? I think I remember SUX2BU cutting them off and getting something like 15 lbs per side? I'm gonna have a go at them tomorrow probably and also try swiss cheesing the wheel humps behind some of the interior pieces.

lemme see if i can find some pics. i cut the rear seat brackets out,seat belts

Ok guys heres what i did this morning. Front fenders, 6.5lbs per side, front frame ends where the bumper support tied in, 5lbs per side, very bottom of radiator support where there is double material 3lbs. So far thats 26 lbs off the nose. More to come later...

Thats exactly what im going to do, im also going to cut the top of the radiator support and weld a bar accross so the radiator sits vertical.

JPJBC - have you had the car on the ground with a motor in it yet? i think you're gonna be sitting pretty low

No, I just put the shocks, springs, k member lower a-arms and manual rack in last week. I will adjust the ride height when I put the motor in.

i dont know how much, but im sure i dropped some weigth with this


and believe it or not but this dropped quite a bit of weight too
