Default Paging Madman: Manual Rack Issue

Brian,
I didn't see you in the sponsor list to find your contact information so I'll give this a shot.

I recently installed your manual rack on my 99 Camaro and had the car aligned afterward per your specs.

I was informed that the rack isn't perfectly parallel to the K member due to it being welded incorrectly.

Also, they said there were some issues getting the toe right under load and off of load due to the tie rod end spacers being too long.

They said I need shorter versions in order to fix this problem.

Are you aware of this and have you heard of it before?

If this is common, I'll need those shorter spacers where the tie rods connect.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Feel free to call me at 877-516-7223. I havent had anyone complain about the bumpsteer kit not allowing for the proper alignment. You probably need to call and explain a little better so we can get this fixed.

Okay I'll give you a call. How late can I reach you there in Central time?

I'm not very knowledgable with alignments so I may have them call you after we talk.

Thanks.

I have the Madman rack, it's alignable. The rack does not sit exactly where the stock rack was FYI.

Okay, I'll try and reach you as soon as I get back home.

PSJ: Thanks, but they were telling me that it wasn't parallel to the k member, which is very important.

I had the same issue months back. I noticed it before installing it. Madman kindly took it back and sent a new one. Looks like its an issue with the jig even though he said he checked that...

There was an issue with the JIG. My move from Texas tweaked the jig. That problem has been remedied. If you have a question about your rack all you have to do is call. I am very easy to get ahold of.

That's exactly how mine sits as well. The tie rod end spacers are also too long.

Brian: I hope I don't have to replace the rack.

I'm going to call Madman tomorrow as I've been very busy at work.

Thanks guys.

Sure, although I just found out that this unit can ONLY be fun with front runners.

Madman is speaking with my alignment shop to resolve the issues.

He's been very helpful so far and I hope we can get things resolved.

What was the outcome of this issue? I just installed my rack today and have experienced the same problem with the rack not being parallel to the K-member. It looked to me that the tie rod spacers were a bit long. Is this a problem?

This issue is still open. I've heard nothing for quite some time.

I might have to just "Roll" with the problem. It doesn't seem to drive that bad, but I'm sure it will eat up DS2s like nobody's business.
