Default 10 point cage ???

Is a 6 point roll bar that has the added bars to make it a full 10 point cage meet the same requirements as a regular 10 point cage would? Assuming it was all purchased from wolfe are the diameters of the tubing the same then? Or would it be better to ditch the 6 point and buy a whole new 10 point in order to be legal?

As I was told an NHRA legal 6 point uses thicker tubing and a 10pt uses a smaller tubing. You can upgrade your 6 pt to a 10 pt but if you want to save some weight ditch the 6 pt if it's NHRA legal and start fresh. When I had my 6 pt. I had it made with the smaller chromoly tubing with the expectation of upgrading it eventually. Not exactly "legal" but I got by. Now I've since upgraded to the 10pt.

I talked to my chassis guy abotu this very topic, and my 6 pt is being built so that it can be finished to a 10 pt without having to cut it out. The difference in the weight of the tubing, is about 25 lbs. That little bit, I'll live with when I have it converted over. It will just be one jet change larger, and that will fix that issue

a 6 point has to be 1 3/4 tubing , a 10 point can be 1 5/8 and still be legal.

Well at least you can convert your 6 to a 10 and be legal. That was my worry.

the weight differnence, FWIW, from 1 3/4 to 1 5/8 CM is way less then the difference is going from mild steel to chromoly.
