Default 8pt Cage Installed 56k DEATH

I decided to have an 8pt installed over the winter while I wasnt able to race instead of waiting till racing season. It was all custom done by a local fabricator in maryland and he also had it powder coated black. Let me know what you all think.

Tyson does great work...

I saw your car at PAF when I was took my car down to get Tyson to do custom SFC's, CM subframes only added 10# to my car, the man is a metal working genius...

Just wanted to say, great setup, now just get the power to need it...

looks very nice.. I'd have put the 2 extra bars in it and made it a 10 t though while you were at it, only so that it would be legal to 8.50

very good looking though, is that paint? If so, it came out great

Tyson is deffinatly the man at welding and fabricating. And I have the power to need a roll cage just not an 8pt yet. I'm expecting to run mid tens this year on nitrous. I didn't have enough time to test it last year at the track so I went straight from the dyno to PAF.

I think some of you need to actually read a NHRA rulebook before commenting

the car has all the required points to certify to 8.50. there is alot of confusion with the "10-pt" cage name. The front pillars are 2 points, hoop is 2 points, back down bars are 2 points and the kicker bars are 2 points. This is only 8 points but has all the NHRA required bars

The coating rule everyone is talking about is the following:
Plating of chassis prohibited for all cars manufactured after 1/1/2003; painting permitted.
powdercoating is NOT plating. Plating is submersing the chassis in a tank and electrodespositing on the substrate. powdercoating is "painting" a powder on the chassis and melting in an oven.

what about the 2 other bars that usually come off the main hoop and go to the trans tunnel? Those are not normally required? I could have sworn that when looking on the nhra site the pics they had of rollbars/cages in there had those bars shown.

EDIT: I see the bars I am referring to now with the cage outside of the car, but I don't see them in the car.. could be the pic's/my monitor though, I dunno.

If not, my bad and I'm sorry for the confusion

The rule isn't that they go to the trans tunnel...If you look at the drawing of the rollcage in the rulebook,

http://home.comcast.net/~tfranklin55...cage_rules.jpg

the bars you are referring to are bar "D". The requirements for these are

1 1/4" x x058" CM or .118 MS mandatory when main hoop welded to plates on floor; must be connected to subframe.
There is no subframe structure in the tranny tunnel. if you look at this picture

You can see the "D" bars (what I referred to as the kickers) in the picture

I see those now, I didn't see them in the pictures of the finished cage, probably the angle the pic's were taken just kinda hid them I just know that most of the cars I see have those bars connected to the tunnel... not that they have to connect there specificially.
