stock brakes dragging
wondering how you guys cure this...ive got stock ls1 brakes with carbon metallic pads and i can bleed them and with them in the air get like 2 turns with them...
run it a few days and then i cant get them to spin 1/2 turn
im using basic dot3 fluid...and im thinking it gets hot when im sliwing down and its boiling inside? is there any other way to keep them from dragging? will some dot4 help?

My stock ls1 brakes work fine and dont hang up like that. Maybe you need to work the pistons in the calipers in and out a few times? Also, if you have a manual master cylinder, make sure its adjusted correctly but that would cause it to drag all the time.

Me and a buddy did mine a few weeks ago. Mine would not turn a 1/4 of a turn on the fronts and was dragging big time! The fix was a set of steel braided brake lines. I got the front and rear setup for around $100 at summit racing, worked like a charm! Now they spin like crazy
What is happening is your stock rubber brake lines are collapseing and causing the calipers to stick at all times and not releasing like they should. You can't collapse steel braided brake lines without cutting into them. It feels like i have a set of new brakes on the car.

Braided is the way to go.
My 96's brakes did not drag so I would not say all do.
The front brakes on my 83 draged on the way home after I bought it, locked up the left front and almost put me in a ditch, seals in the calipers were shot and the rotors were done, everything but the lines was replaced......... Going to swap the lines over to braided this winter. Manual brakes also.

it is most likely the flex brake line's. you dont have to go to steel braided(tho it is a good upgrade) but you do need to replace them. new stockers will get the job done, i went with earl's stainless steel kit. not only fix's the dragging it give a better feel to the brakes. the lines dont exspand like stock rubber lines under hard braking. and takes some of the ABS thump out in the event the ABS is engaged.
