Fun day racing but lost in the Semifinals! VIDEO w/i
Loaded up the car, got Lorie and the puppies packed up and headed to St. Thomas for the Toronto F-body shootout.
Weather Conditions:
Track Elevation: 600 feet
75.20 degrees
41% humidity
50 dew point
30.01 baro
7mph headwind
Density Altitude: 1840 feet
Here was the car configuration: (The street trim experiment)
Stock 17's with street tires at 30psi
Full tank of gas
Front passenger and back seats in
Full exhaust (didnt open the cutout usually 1.5 mph gain)
Air filter left in place (usually 1 mph gain when I remove it)
The car was a blast to drive today in street trim!!
I lowered the shiftlight to 6200rpm, launched at 2000rpm and granny shifted every gear.
(Spun for about 6 feet in first, then hooked, then broke loose for all of second. Chirped third and hooked for the rest. hahah it was a blast!
Best run of the day was 12.10@119.32mph 2.15 sixty
The funnest part of the day was eliminations. I made it through three rounds to the semi finals.
The semi final run was against Elie (One of the guys in the club who loaned me gas when I was empty at the track last year. I ended up knocking him out of one of the semi last year and he regretted giving me the gas! hahah
He is a great guy and he and I always have a laugh at the track!
Well I had my dial in at 12.30 (I ran 12.31 in the last round on a 12.30 dial in)
Down in the pits I was looking for a scraper so I could drop my dialin to 12.28 but couldnt get the **** off the windows. (Ellie had loaned me his polish) I said screw it I should be fine. First mistake haha!!
Ellie's dial in was 13.60 so I was sitting at the tree for over a second while he took off. I launched off a decent light but really spun bad at the line and on the 1-2 shift. Chirped third hard, grabbed fourth and was rapidly closing on him at the end and JUST caught him at the line. I thought to myself this is going to be close!!
Well I went to get my slip and got the yellow one
Turns out I ran 12.298 on a 12.30 dialin!! ARRRGH DAMMIT!!!
Would have made it to the finals!!!
Oh well, thats racing, next time I'll definitely bring my scraper LOL!!
Here is a vid of the run:

I had a great time today. It was nice not having to swap tires, worry about breaking off the line etc. Really enjoyable. Lorie and the dogs had fun too. I think I have a 11.8@120mph in the car with the right hook in FULL street trim.
2.15 sixties just aren't cutting it on street tires LOL Should be in the 1.9's

75.20 degrees
Dammit I am moving to Toronto in the Summer and back down here (Dallas) in the Winter!! High today (Sunday 7/20/2003) is supposed to be around 102 in the shade...add the humidity and we are looking close to 110 if not more At least I have it better than some folks in Phoenix who see 116+ nearly everyday!! Congrats on the times for street trim. I think you can go 11.8X at 120 mph in FULL STREET TRIM also.

Thanks guys!
This has been a great summer so far weather wise. Last year we had a ton of days over 95 degrees with high humidity. We are lucky this summer hehehe

Changing tires does stink. I decided to run in street trim back in the late 90's and while I had that ole Mustang, I enjoyed racing. I managed 11.70's and could see those at anything from 118-122mph, depending on my launch, which usually netted 1.90's or so for the 60' time. You'll prolly get there before long. Good luck and congrats on 3 rounds w/o slicks. I've tried that too....not easy.
