Default Whats Next !!!! looking to go faster.

OK heres what I have done to date

2001 LS1
ARE Stage 2 Heads and Cam 224 228 114 LSA
ARE 346 Short Block Forged Internals
FLP Longtubes no CATS
Borla Cat Back System
Smooth Belows
Ported TB
Lid and Filter
TR55 Plugs
160 Stat.
LS6 MAF
RAM VDS 910 System
Moser 12 Bolt 3.90's
TQ Arm, Panhard, Lower Control Arms and Relocation Brackets
Eibach Pro Kit
Bogart Drag Wheels ET Streets
Lous Short Stick

The car only makes 387RWHP which seems really low to me. I have been running 11.9*'s this year at 114mph Again seems low. Was running 117mph last year? The tune is from Rapid Motorsports. Its 12.8 to 13.0 AFR across the board.

Looking to pick up some ET and Trap speed. Whats a good mod to do next. I want to be back up to 117 118 traps.

I don't want to run Nitrous yet maybe next year.

Current time slip

1.65 to 1.72 60fts.
89 to 90 1/8 trap
11.9* to 12.0* 1/4
113 to 114 1/4 trap

What is the weight of your Hot Rod?

Hal shocks will help ya out a bunch.

I think you need a bigger gear such as 4.56. :p

You need to get the 60ft down and your times will improve.

Raceweight is 3600. It's a street car first drag car second.

I was thinking of a better gear but I do like to play on the highway as well. I dont really want to give up any top speed.

I do notice I still spin coming out. Will HAL's eliminate this? If so they could be my next mod.

How will the front drag springs work with my lowered car? Will I have to run stock rear springs with the HAl's?

Thanks For the input.

First off,3600lbs is heavy...
Tom is correct,u need a 4.30 or lower gear to use this power properly but Hals IMO arent gonna give u 2 tenths, maybe a tenth if your lucky.

What were the temps, hum, baro when u made these runs?Cars can slow down as much as 4 tenths just from weather alone.

Some peolpe say they can race a stick but can u?

If it were me I'd run 26in ET streets,4.30's and throw someone in the car who can RING a stick out on a nice cool night just to see what she can do.

Good luck...

First off thanks for your reply!

I know that gear is hurting me. But I don't want to give up top speed. I'm really looking for ideas more to pick up trap speed wich will in turn net some lower ET's. If I can gain a tenth with some HAL's I will probably do it. But I dont expect HAL's to raise my MPH.

Are there any mods I can do that will net me more MPH?

I am very familiar with DA and how it affects ET and trap speeds. My runs range between 300 and 1200 DA. My qouted traps are an average of all year and are pretty consistant. When I used to pull 117 to 118 was last year (All year long not just one outing over 60 runs). This year my best trap speed has been 114.7 and consistant 113 to 114 traps over 40 runs, so I know something is wrong there. But I have not been able to figure it out. There have been no changes from last year to this years before the loss.

As for the driver part. I'm not saying I'm a pro driver or any thing but I can rip through the gears better than most. I want to car to run faster with me driving not someone else.

I am running 26 ET Streets.

Thanks Again Rob

Take alitte weight outta her and run 4.30's.U wont give up too much top end over your 3.90's and you'll pull away from someone MUCH quicker on the hwy.

Sounds like u can drive....
IMO Hals arent worth much, dont waste your $$

INSTEAD...
I'd buy a nice lightweight Sparco or Corbeau seat and remove 75lbs outta the car.Remove the washer fluid when u race too and add a light battery to the car too.

Thunder racing sells this stuff. The battery and the bracket will reduce 40+lbs off the front of the car.

These few simple mods will take over 100lbs outta your car and most of that weight will be off the front end.And if u dont have a cutout GET ONE and use it!!!!

Are u running skinnies up front and a 15X3.5in front runner?
If u arent get them asap and just use them for the track.
These mods will net u 117+ in the good Oct air.

Good luck..

3600lbs....put that car on a diet.

I concur with the 4.30 gears, but would run a 28" slick. I am a firm believer in using adjustable shocks. I would also consider a Spohn or WolfeRacecraft Drag Sway bar, if your launches are not completly straight and even. That helps your 60ft time a lot.

I cut 1.48 60fts on stock decarbons..
Sorry bro Hals aint worth much, maybe a tenth...

TQ arm and the sway bar help ALOT.....
I'd add the wolfcraft too and set the TQ arm at -2...

Why run a 28,They'll grow too much..
He'll hook on a 26 and it'll keep the trap rpm up around 6600 threw the lights.

01's and up have the LS6 intake from factory, maybe a slightly larger cam and it will wake it up? It seems a bit small for the setup, but I definitely think with what you have you should be over 400rwhp no problem.

Yea thats what i thought too. In fact i thought it should be around 410. And it was running that fast last year.

Last year I had Ed Wright programming I made 380 RWHP 370 RWTQ with a AFR of 10.9. So I sent ed the dyno run and my pcm. When I got the box back and put it in and I was amazed. I would guess a gain of 30 to 40 hp. I picked up over 6mph in the 1/4 and was trapping at 117 to 118 consistantly. I parked the car for the winter and when I took it out this year I was only trapping 111 to 112.

I tried a million things to get that MPH back but nothing worked. So I finally had Ed's programming taken off. I had Mickey from Rapid tune it for me. Since the tune I'm up to 114MPH traps now but its still way slower than last year. The 114mph traps prove that. I can't figure out where it went though the EFI Live Files look good no KR 100%TPS o2 are at around 920 which is where they were on the dyno pull at a 13.0 AFR.

Dunno I gave up on looking for it. Now I'm looking for another way to get it back. Could the valves be out of adjustment?

Later Rob

Timing is at 27.5 to 28 This is where it quit making power on the dyno. Should there be more timing?

I think a bigger cam would give you more power. There's a lot of guys running much bigger cams.

Are you having oil consumption issues? Maybe oil being sucked into your intake is slowing you down. I'd also check your spark plugs.
