Default Speed Inc G8 cam pkg results

We seen some nice results from a 08 G8 GT we completed a cam package on and tuned today.

non DOD cam conversion

-SI custom cam w/ low 230's duration and low 600 lift
-Kooks 1 7/8 w/ no cats
-SLP LM....YES IT IS LOUD!
-Rotofab CAI
-Yank SS3200 ..locked

The converter locked, unlocked and again relocked for some reason as you can see by the graph on the final run. ( dip /loop around 4500 )

prior tune was cai & full exhaust

new #'s are the addition of a cam, converter and retune

70 rwhp

Makes you question the value of stepping up to the GXP G8 with numbers like that. Well done.

thanks guys

We are very happy with the gains.

We are hoping to do a little more milder cam setup in the next few weeks on 2 G8 GT's...working out details with them now.

I just re read the post, and I have a question.

Does changing the converter to a higher then factory, in this case a 3200 have any effect on dyno numbers considering it was locked ?? Would the factory stalled being locked spit out different numbers ??

Real curious, I don't know too much about automatics.

locked v's locked should be very close

I guess there could be some weight difference between the 2 and be worth a couple HP.

Thanks for the explanation. I don't know much of anything about stalled autos. Sounds like a nice car to have as a commuter. How's that cam going to be for a DD'r or would you go smaller if someone was going to put 15000+ miles a year on the car ??

no problem

This does drive well, but I would want something smaller for a DD myself. The other 2 cars for friends we plan to custom spec smaller cams, but still looking for great results as you could imagine.

So true!!

I love those G8; if I had the money I would get one for my DD and keep my SS for a weekend warrior!!

Awesome numbers! When it's time to step up with my G8 I might very well be looking into one of your packages with improvements like these!

I'm thinking the same thing. At one point I actually considered trading my GT in for a GXP, but the fact that I can go much faster for much less than the difference between the two made me stick with the GT
