Default Car is being tuned on Dyno today, results to follow.

Complete mod list is in the sig. A few points to mention:

1). Stock heads (for now).

2). Fast 90 is NOT ported.

3). Dyno is a dynojet.

4). Car has a steel driveshaft that replaced the aluminum one.

5). The converter will be locked.

My dyno tune appointment is today at 4PM so get your guesses in today and I'll update the results tomarrow morning.

Also I'm hitting the track tomarrow night for new track numbers. Numbers in my sig was before cam, fast 90 and UD pulley. I run 255/50R16 MT street radials. Guess my new track times also if you like. Track is 900 feet above sea level and weather will be in the 60's.

388/379 rwhp/rwtq if your dyno is honest/representative of other Dynojets.

That's pretty much what I was thinking for the dyno. But if I only lose 3 tenths from a decent size cam, fast 90 and UD pulley then I'll drive my car right into lake Ontario

I'm thinking 11.7 for ET.

haha. for sure man. if you hook...without breaking your 10 bolt...you should see some 11's. and if you do run a 12.0, dont drive it into lake ontario...drive it to me

i'd guess 415whp locked and 11.5 @ 117.

looks like a nice setup, good luck. what rpm will you shift? i can see that cam and a fast 90 liking 6800 or so. if you won't spin it that far the et/mph will be slower than what i guessed...obviously.

I am planning on 6500 shiftpoint. I would love to spin to 6800 but I'm too worried about the stock rod bolts.

402/380 and 11.9 because of a small tire and tall gear.

The results are in and they were a little disappointing. The best my car could make with the converter locked was 380 rwhp / 340 rwtq. With the converter unlocked I made 354/322.

I have a friend with a 98 Formula with 3.42 gears, LT's, TCI 3000 stall, V1 streetsweeper (228/232 111), BBK intake, UD pulley and street tires. His car made 353/330 on the same dyno. So with the bigger cam and better intake I made a whopping 2 rwhp more BUT 8 rwtq less.

According to the tuner my drag radials and looser stall both attributed to my numbers being so close to Johns. He seems to think my car will shine at the track. We are all going tonight so I'll be lining up against my buddys car and we'll see how they compare. His best so far is 12.0 @ 112.

Dont get stuck on numbers man. My friends H/C car only made 360 unlocked on a mustang dyno and it ran mid 11's. And thats with stock 3.23 NO suspension mods and drag radials.

Take it to the track and I doubt you will be disappointed.

If you and your buddy both put down very similar numbers with similar setups then I'd think you'll run close to each other at the track.

Just got back from the track. Temp was in the 50's so all times were better then average due to a very favorable DA. Best pass tonight was:

11.93 @ 114.40 on a 1.68 60'

My buddy John ran 11.95 @ 113.80 on a 1.67 60'

We both have identical bolt ons. But I have a 5C 4400 stall to his 4C 4000. I have a fast 90/90 to his BBK and stock 78mm TB. I have a 236/240 cam to his 228/232. I'm shifting at 6600 rpm's to his 6200 rpm's. Plus he has a 98 with even worse heads then I have.

For all intensive purposes I should be a few tenths quicker and a few mph faster. But we are within less then a tenth in ET and less then 1 mph in trap. Plus all the guys at New Era said 354 (unlocked) was the lowest number they have ever seen a streetsweeper/fast 90 make.

My problem is that this setup did not make the dyno or track numbers it normally does. And if I don't do anything about it now then next year in June, July & August I'll be running 12.1's @ 112. F that. If the compression check goes ok then that cam is coming out and being replaced with one that won't be an underachiever.

I hope!

Was that 1.68 dead hooking? A 4400 stall there seems to be around a tenth to gain there.

That was aggressively feathering out of the hole (3/4 throttle rolling into full throttle). If I had the tire/suspension to be able to stall up to 3000 rpm's and floor it while dead hooking then I know a 11.8 would have been possible last night.

But that's neither here nor there as far as I'm concerned. The trap speed is why this cam only setup is an utter failure. But one way or another the situation will be corrected.

I know I'll get flamed for this, but it's a pet peave of mine... The phrase is, "For all intents and purposes."

Looks like good runs though. Especially considering you were disappointed with the numbers. Congrats. Goes to show the dyno doesn't tell the whole story!

I didn't know that. But now I do

Personally I think the runs sucked. That setup should be good for 11.6 @ 116 in last nights air. The cam didn't perform on the dyno and likewise it didn't perform at the track.
