200mph ls1
Just wondering if any body has gotten a ls1 camaro / firebird to 200mph as this is my goal. Have no problem takin a vacation and goin to the salt flats where its legal. Just interested in what it will take to get my 2900lb m-6 f-body to this speed. sure the weight will go up when a cage is installed.

Car craft took a 93 cobra (GT40ised 5.0) to 200 on a closed 7 mile track (firebird or something like that in ohio). Lowered the car with a Vortech Supercharger. Made 500 horses( I believe) to get it there. Geared 3.27 or so. Let's see. With an LS1 bird (more aero than the camaro and assuming this is too easy with a vette), lower it, head and cam package and the right gear and you should be there for minimum outlay....not including the rental of a 7 mile track. Been a long time since I thought about that.
Some of the car clubs might be able to get you into a track on the cheap (cheaper). But invest in the safety gear (cage, harness, firesupression, brakes, tires, hood pins, 200 mph tape, and life insurance). Or do it in a mid 70's mustang.
Someone did a Firebird/TA to 200 at the flats. It was an 85 or 86 model. Modded engine with a rear hatch full of nitrous.
Good luck.

The simple fact of the matter is that no one who will post in this thread has done it. If you're serious, contact Boyce. Outside of that, you can bet that everyone here will post BS, hearsay, and speculation.

Where are you located? You need to check out the Texas Mile...happens twice a year.
I've been out there 4 times and have not seen any fbodys hit or pass 200mph.
Even Ford GTs and Vettes have trouble getting there....this past march I did see a S/C LT1 run 187mph! Not bad huh? I think he was only running 6-7lbs of boost.
Among all things the right gears and aero are needed. Once you get past 160mph pulling more speed becomes exponential which kinda tells you...over 650rwhp is needed.
but dont take my word for it.....research it. I did
I didnt see the video it wont load...but looking at the info of the mods there is no way that thing only has 400rwhp..if you believe that I dont know where you been the past 10 years.
Your car with all that boost would be a good candidate I bet you would get close.
My guess is he's easily near 500....

My reason i want to go 200mph is because i like to set goals for me and my car. My last goal was to run 11's on a stock long block ls1. I did that car ran 11.9's all day long. So now its 200mph regardless where i have to go to do so.

First off,...how exactly do you want to hit 200mph? In a short, standing mile? Or in an over all highway style blast?
There is a major difference,...in power in the two. Your F body,...at that weight you'd need 900rwhp-1000+ in a dead stop, standing mile. That, and i;d say a 3.55 or smaller.
In a long range, say,...big private track rental type deal,...similar to a highway...long stretch,....probably 650-700rwhp would get you there quick enough where you could have a little room to spare.
Suspsnsion, tires,aerodnamic's,....driver awareness, everything comes into effect at those speeds.
Heres an old video,......for comparsisons sake.

The TT Lingenfelter corvette shows up... While it actually hasn't gone for a top speed run (I don't think), drag and horsepower calculations show it's more than capable of getting there.
And my original corvette comment was a question to you, because I didn't know.
