Thumbs down well...I thought I was Done for the season

Backfire issue still ocurred last night, even with known good LS7 coils. So I drive back to the pits, shut the car down it it backfired on shutdown...WTF.

Went to pull the log and the laptop wouldn't commuicate with the BS3...WTF

Dig further, the BS3 still powered up the racepak dash, but all the signals (voltage, water temp, etc) were reading 0...WTF

check 5V references at a few engine sensors, only getting ~.9V...WTF

Guess something finally fried in the BS3

Dunno what BS3 (the company) will do...but I've got a sick feeling in my stomach

Either way, we know for sure it had to be the box causing the backfires...we tried everything else and no cure.

Guess its time for a distributor setup which isn't in the budget for this year so I guess I'm calling it quits

Almost debating on parting out the car at this point

Racing can be as dissappointing as it is fun. Race cars are a bottomless pit. Walk away from it until the your mind clears from being pissed off.

That really sucks I am sorry to hear about this. If I were you I would just walk away from it and let things cool down for a little bit before you make any quick rash decisions to part it out. Just give it some down time and come back to it later. I let my car sit with no heads on it for a whole season and then came back to it next year and have been running ever since

Yeah don't part it out. That's a hell of car you have there. Give it a little bit and then come back to it. Call BS3 and see if they will work something out with you. DON'T GIVE UP!

Don't be hasty, you just need some time to cool down. You put a ton of time into finding the problem, now that you know what it is the hard part is over. It would suck to get pissed and sell the car just to have second thoughts and start over like kp. Good luck,

Larry

Park it in the garage for a bit, cool down and collect your thoughts. Then push the old lady's guts around and call it a night.

Well, your driving a low 8 second car and having just a bad BS3 is nothing,I would think. Hell of alot better than completely destroying a motor.

Knowing BS3 and making high hp COP work with BS3 are two different things...there are a few guys in OH working with Meaney directly and they can't get it working right (same symptoms as me)...

tuning isn't the issue...Shawn just tuned Phil's LSX car to 162 in the 1/8 on DRs...at least he was smart and went distributor

we've tried LS2/LS7 coils and truck coils with no change.

cam/crank advance isn't the issue...switched to Leo's 24 tooth setup and advance is rock steady

Its all good

I'm done with the coil on plug (COP)...don't matter if I have a box...problem is the expense needed for the distributor conversion...
