I may not know how to build an engine, but I can build a rifle!
Just when I did not need another expencive hobby like racing, being a pilot, and photography, I decided to get into firearms... lol
This is the first time I build the rifle from the ground up!
This is my version of the Navy Mark12 SPR:
Had to make some comprimises to make it NJ legal, but oh well. Can't wait to see how she shoots!
Since this is a car forum, I figured I would combine the two loves:
Assembled the lower first:
Assembled the upper a few days later and the two mated like a dream!
Pardon the filthy car

Can't have a collapsable stock so I had to pin it making it a huge pain in the *** for both my GF who is shorter than me to use the rifle without moving the scope. Can't have a flash hider or a threaded barrel that can accept a flash hider so I had to esentialy ruin a VERY EXPENCIVE barrel and pin/weld a muzzle brake onto it. Also the Navy SPR uses a OPS Inc model 12 muzzle brake to accept their model 12 supressor. Since I can never own a supressor in NJ I did not use they "propper" brake.
Magazines are caped to 15 rounds so I have to buy modified mags which are more expencive

The scope on the rifle is a Nightforce 2-10x32 with ZeroStop Mil-Dot/MOA and if $800 is too much than this scope is not for you lol. I got it used but the retail on it is close to $1600...
I did. Got kicked out of E-Town on Wed. for having expired belts and going faster than 11.50. I told them I would only go half track and I did. Let out at the 1/8 mark but I guess I did not hit the brakes fast enough...
They would not give me my slip and yelled at me
Don't think it was that good of a pass, so I did not feel the need to hit the brakes hard. Bogged on a 5000rpm launch. I did not think my 3 year old MTs would hold **** but they did and I bogged lol. Short shifted 2nd and waited for 3rd. Let out, coasted for a sec that eased on the brakes and took the very first turnoff. I guess it was not enough to slow down to 11.50...
Pete,
don't waste your time on a piston AR. There is no need. Trust me. I have been doing a lot of reading up on this stuff lately.
All the parts were stripped, nothing pre assembled for the most part. I bought the lower stripped. Its a Noveske. Barrel is Noveske as well.
Upper was built by me, the reciever is an VLTOR MUR-1A barrel as I said is a Noveske 18" SS.
Stock is a Magpul ACS.
