Does this sound like a scam to anyone else??
I received the following email from an add I have on craigslist for my motorcycle. This looks very familiar to those Nigerian fake money order scams… However how could you scam with paypal? Maybe they just want my paypal address?
Anyone seen this before? It looks pretty fishy to me…..
Thanks for the mail , and thanks for the price given, still at the
range, i will offer you $3700. if you accept my offer cos am buying
the car for Birthday Gift for my dad and i am at sea at the moment as
i am a marine engineer and i really want the bike to be a surprise for
my dad so i wont let him know anything about the bike until it gets
delivered to him , i am sure he will be more than happy with the
bike.I insisted on paypal because i dont have access to my bank
account online as i dont have internet banking, but i can pay from my
paypal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you
to give me your paypal email address so i can make the payments asap
for the bike and pls if you dont have paypal account yet, it is very
easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com and get it set up , after you
have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for
registration with paypal so as to put the money through.I have a pick
up agent that will come and pick the bike up after i have made the
payments. PS:you can end the auction on the site yourself, you will see
a place where u can end the auction and my pick up agent will come
around to do the pick up as soon as i have made the payments for the
bike.
Thanks

Simple....
Don't get involved.
Just respond that you are only entertaining a local face to face sale as you "don't need to sell the bike", "you just want to sell the bike"
If you want to see how bad these situatioins can get, look in the "Watchout" forum under the classifieds section in: www.rolexforums.com
Scamming expensive Rolex, etc timepieces from some formidible job title people, brings about some interesting learning. Here's one where a Dr. got scammed, but got his stuff and money back due to the support of other site members. Like the support you'll get here.
Best regards....

Sad thing is, even though this response was poorly written, a real response from a real person will be barely legible and mostly incoherent. It will be riddled with grammatical errors and poor spelling (text type spelling too). When it doesn't sound like a salesman trying to sell you something, and more like a rapper trying to order food from a fast food joint....then you know it's a real person. It is really sad how uneducated in grammar the masses has become.
