Default 10.8-1 comp & 20#'s of boost ?

I have read some previous threads about high comp. and boost. I have a 408 w/ 10.8-1 comp. it has ported l-92 heads on it and I was thinking about running 15-20 # range. I could run alcohol or meth. I wasthinking about a procharger. And do I need special injectors for alcohol.

just really, really big ones.. your engine will consume way more alchy than gasoline. probably in the 160#+ range with the power you'll be making

if this is even slightly a street car, you might want to rethink your goals...what you are wanting to do is going to require a pretty radical setup with some pretty radical fuel. It's not quite as easy as simply throwing alky or meth in the tank, the car has to be built around it. Alcohol fuels will destroy rubber fuel lines, seals, corrode tanks, and require a vastly different tune then a standard build. Alcohol fuels are also really expensive to run, and really not required unless your pushing 1500+ HP. IMO lower compression to around 8.5-9.0, run an alky injection kit, and however much boost you can get away with (you MIGHT hit 20#)

Nothing on the fuel system is stock. It is all -10 an from front to rear. My reasearch so far has lead me to beleieve that I could run this comp. Just seeing what I could do. I will not drop the comp. because the engine is new. i will just use N2o. But the realistically the car will see little to no street duty. Maybe a 10 mile cruise to sonic or something.

You can run 10.8-1 with 20psi if you're careful with fuel selection/tuning/camshaft/etc.

I had assumed I would need to change the cam. Basically I already have a new 408, I want to go Blower or turbo for Now. And get the the engine tune right and run a safe amount of boost. Once I get eveything situated and my FI application up and going and get some more experiance with the tunning. I will pull the motor and swap in a low comp. LSX build. I just dont want to spend all the money on a high dollar N2o set-up. When that money could go towards a turbo or Blower. Since that is what I really want and I will not be satisfied until I have it.

build it and have fun. don't be so worried about a boost "number". Fill up with E85 and let her eat. Don't forget the butter

start off with low boost number and work you way up. you should beable to run a fair amount of boost (probably upto 15psi) as thats what guys have run on stock bottom ends!

also what heads do you have? could you maybe take the comp. down a little there??

Chris.

to be quite honest.... another thing you will really need to worry about with that kinda boost is lifting the heads..... just start at like 10psi and work your way up....

with like a s91, you will make all of 850rwhp at 10psi im willing to bet

I have l-92 heads and the gasket is about as thick as I would go without messing up the quinch height. If I could get away with 10-15 #'s I would be good with that and then just build a low comp. lsx bottom end later.

If you run alcohol you'll be able to hit those numbers easily. There's guys out there running 13:1+ on alcohol boosted engines.
