Required or not?
In everyone's opinion...are these items required or can be done without on a basic build (or more importantly has anyone left them out and had no problems?)
Valvesprings
Pushrods
LS2 Chain
My build will consist of a T70 Truck Manifold set-up...I am going for BUDGET and see what I can do with the stock long-block...so every little thing sets me back...I realize they are all great ideas...but do I NEED stronger springs, chain and push rods at 10lbs and less on a stock block?...Im only going for 500 or so to start...

Agreed... you need the springs, and the pushrods are necessary if you have springs. The chain is so cheap it's hard to justify not buying, but it's not absolutely necessary either.

I would also put a wideband AFR gauge as a mandatory item. Nothing will save your engine faster than the "hey dumba$$....I'm going lean, get off the throttle" gauge. It saved my engine on more than 1 occasion. That alone made it worth the $300.

x3 on not needing the LS2 chain. Springs + pushrods are definite. I'd recommend dual springs (like Patriot golds) + hardened pushrods.

Oh I agree 100% ... a Wideband is in my mandatory column!

The LS2 is thicker...and it is nice and cheap. I did one on my 01 SS when I did my cam swap... but that being said, I have never heard of anyone breaking one yet.... anyone?... It has probably happened... but sure as hell isnt very common...
A person would obviously be stupid to not do one when they are already down to the chain... but I dont plan to tear down the front of the motor until I spec a cam out..

For sure a wideband & the springs to keep the boost under control. Pushrods if you are going to spin over 6k. And wait on the chain until the cam swap. And if the cam is big you should add rockers to your wish list.
