Shop car update
This is on our 2002 SOM Camaro shop car, GMHTP cover car 07/03. (Sorry I dont have a nickname for it, but I am open to suggestions) Here is a link:

The car has been down for about a year now, shortly after our photoshoot, we dismantled the car. We decided to go with a big aluminum motor with nitrous and run it in that configuration for this season. While we were waiting the summer for the block to return from ARE, we changed our minds several times.
With the success and drivability Jim(INTIMID8), one of my techs/tuner, has with his 100% in-house fabricated turbo system on his LT1, we decided to go that route. So here is the tentative plan:
-427 Darton sleeved block
-Lunati crank
-Eagle 6.125 rods
-Custom Diamond pistons
-RGR ported LS6 or AFR heads
-Hydraulic cam
-Jesel Street or Yella Terra rockers
-Th400 w/brake
-Gen7 managment system
-Big Low impedence injectors
-FAST LSX intake or possibly an in-house fabbed sheetmetal
-Big single or twin turbo system, fabbed in-house.
The goal is to go deep into the 9’s while keeping it relatively streetable. Driving this car on the street is important to me.
We are in the planning and compiling parts stage right now, but plan on having it finished in plenty of time for spring.

Sounds interesting
Are you going with a bigass air to air cooler? That would be less work on the street
With a mild gear and fairly mild converter (~3000 stall) it should be very streetable

We are going air to air for sure.
It has a 3.73 right now, we have to figure tire size, max rpm, etc, and see where that puts us.

We have changed our direction on the car several times.
We are building a one-off kit for our car since I dont have A/C or ABS. We may do a prototype kit after we see how much we have into it.

Copycat!
Just kidding. Sounds like a plan. Glad to hear you'll be building your own kit.
Let me know if I can help in any way. I've had a lot of "been there, done that's" with my turbo setup. Gets kinda costly and frustrating.

Our shop has also just launched a new project car, 1972 Chevelle tubbed 427 blown stroker LS6. The concept drawing was just finished and the project completion date is scheduled for 2005.
