Default STS Question, Will it fit on a 3800 since its rear mount?

Hi my friend was wondering if he could fit a STS turbo on his 3800 Firebird since he has the Y87 appearance package and dual exhaust like the Trans Am's since it is a rear mounted turbo? Could he just hook it up to his exhaust and use the same pipes it comes with to run it back to the intake?

Called STS company and they said yes it would run all the way the same to the intake then would take a little manipulation to go into that, and said he could expect from 80-100 HP. But feel free to chime in if anyone has any opinions ect.

I think it will be very laggy, you will at least need hot pipes to turbine header wrapped. If it's a 5 speed, I would be even more worried about lag. Start by researching A/R sizing on the turbine for the displacement you have on a rearmount set-up. If it is an automatic, a stall converter will greatly increase spool time. GL to you and your friend.

For the money, you could do an LS1 swap and make more power peak and under the curve.

It will work fine, but you just need to 1) Request a smaller turbo with an AR of .63. (2) Wrap the entire exhaust all the way back to the turbo. (3) Make some small modifications to the charge pipe to the throttlebody and you will be good to go. You can get much, much more information at www.fullthrottlev6.com A couple of members either made their own kit or modified an STS kit.

No to flame this company, but they have BS'ed the 3800 V6 community for a couple of years with this "announcement". May of the guys including myself were left hanging which is why alot just made our own custom kit. Needless to say I would be very pessimistic until I see it for sale. There just has not been much support for complete turbo systems on a 3800 Firebird/Camaro.
