Default Vic Jr or GMPP intake for TFS 235's?

Hey guys, I'm considering a spider intake for my combo. I was wondering which intake is better-the GMPP or the Vic Jr.

I will be running an elbow from Intake Elbows and it will have a divider built into it.

I will be swaping to a cam with a tighter centerline as well.

Boost will be in the 20-23pis range from a Vortech YSi.

I want to give up some low end fro top end-currently can only launch the car of idle.

Best ET is a 9.04@154 with a lowly 1.45 sixty.

Thanks!

*ahem*pro flo

I'd suspect that for upper rpm power, the larger the plenum volume, the better.

Although there is probably no real difference between the Vic and GMPP ?

Excellent point Stevie.
Also... remember, when you add an intake elbow, your effective plenum volume grows substantially. The plenum comparison between manifolds is much more important when you are planning on using a carb or carb-style throttle body that is sitting directly on the manifold. One question... does the GMPP require/recommend porting like the Vic Jr does? (I am a Vic Jr user and am not familar with the GMPP mani).

Most elbows have a very small volume. Ive considered adding a 1" spacer below mine to increase it a little on the cheap though. Havent actually done it yet though.

Vic and GMPP look identical although the GMPP is about 1/2" shorter in height

The Pro Flow just won't fit Stevie. That's why I'm really looking into the GMPP with a Wilson 1" tapered spacer and Aaron's elbow with a divider.

Is the divider on the elbow meant to try and equalize flow on both sides of the intake? Does anyone happen to have pictures?

Thanks,
Glenn

Yep, that's the purpose of it. I'll post pics when I get mine.

So how about an elbow in the low profile style like Edelbrocks. Have the elbow add volume above the intake, which might remove some of the "directional" airflow coming into it as well

I have a gto with an intake elbow from aaron. Mine does not have a splitter but the edelbrock one i have for sale does. Is there any loss in having or not having a splitter?

I had the GMPP and wasn't happy with it. The Vic Jr is a better choice in my opinion. The runners look like they are a bit more equal lengh than the GMPP, and the Vic Jr also has a longer plenum. I have had the two side by side, and the GMPP looks like it has more material that can be ported out if you plan to do that.
That being said, there are other options out there that will work much better than both of these, such as the Super Vic and Carrys Pro Flow. But good luck getting your hands on a Pro Flow.

Here is my setup using the Vic Jr and a carb hat.

And here is what my Vic Jr looks after a little amateur massaging.

I've run a few Victor juniors with the same elbow.Works good.Don't really think the splitter will do much on a boosted car since the plenum is pressurized.I kept an eye on the plugs and they were all dead even on color after a pass and after 8k miles on the setups.

Hey Don, thanks for the input. I have a GMPP intake here that's already been setup for FI. I think I'm going to just use.

I don't think the SV will clear no matter what hood. Who out there can port my GMPP. I know Wilson already sells CNC ported intakes-I wonder if they can do the GMPP.

a nice sheet metal manifold would work good for you, but they are a little pricey
