Default 01 Camaro SS APS - track results

So I took the car to the track for the first time. The car has the following,

APS Twin Turbo kit
Small turbo cam, PRC dual springs, titanium retainers
FLT Level 4 4L80E w/ Vacuum modulator
PI 3600 stall
Moser 12 bolt, 3.73's, full spool, aluminum cover, 1350 yoke
Drive shaft rated for 1000 hp
Weld Pro Stars, 325/50-15 MT Drag Radials, MT front runners
BMR sub frames
Spohn chrome-moly LCA's w/ spherical rod ends - adjustable
Spohn drag anti sway bar
BMR adjustable PHR
BMR T/A
BMR transmission x-member
Competition Engineering rear drag shocks
Strange double adjustable front shocks
BMR tubular k-member
SJM manufacturing line lock / ABS delete
Dual 255 fuel pumps, FAST rails, rail mount regulator, 60 lb injectors
Alchy control meth kit
LPE 2 step
A pillar gauge pod w/ boost, trans temp, and wide band AFR gauge
LC1 wide band
Wolfe bolt in 6 point roll bar
5 point harness

This was leaving off of the footbrake, the 2-step couldn't hook which would be 5lbs of boost off the line. The tires would just go up in smoke. The DA was around 1,500ft

Reaction----- .0260
60 ft----- 1.5034
330 ft---- 4.2052
1/8 et---- 6.5080
1/8 mph---- 106.48

Nice to see another aps car out and about going down the track. So what engine.346 or bigger..how much boost were you doing rest of the track. boost ramping if so by rpm, time, gear?
Was it simply too cold to hook good?
So no transbrake?
So couldn't you lower the two step rpm to make less boost and get off line better?
Looks like that 9.5 is like a 10.19 converter? didnt' convert the mph can do that shortly.
Any dyno numbers yet at current boost? Are these standard aps turbos?
If so how many miles at what boost have you got out of them?

Also did you stent inlet tubes or get the upgraded ones.

Let me see if I can answer all of this...

Stock LS1 engine, minus the turbo cam
No transbrake
10lbs of of boost
Yes the track was to cold to hook off of the 2-step
Yes they are standard aps turbos with standard inlet tubes
585rwhp on a mustang dyno
About 10k miles on the set up

No,I wanted to get the Dana in before tracking it as of course the 10 bolt are glass especially when was six speed and did that last summer then wanted to get the 4l80 swap done and did that only couple weeks before really cold weather hit near end november. And of course tracks were long closed up here.

Then had no race tires anyway and wasn't going to try track on my worn down nittos. And wanted to install my two step and line lock as well.

And as for dyno wanted to dyno at higher boost levels but was frankly afraid to boost up the standard aps turbos. Dyno is also couple hundred miles away in same city that has the race track.

So now changed up stuff. Have the LG turbos coming, bought my 295/45/17 et street radials and fee now rest of car is strong ,so finally ready to dyno and hopefully track this year.

I am shooting for 800rwhp for likely day to day power and 1000rwhp for dyno braggin rights. Don't want to push past those numbers since fuel setup figure is only good for 1000rwhp. And don't really want to push that much regularly on 4 bolt heads and non LSX block.

Thats why figure around 800rwhp should be a nice place to be. Use boost ramping by gear for street possibly by time for track. Want to see a 9.xx at track even 9.99 would be fine with me. Then retire car its not likely getting rollbar would need rollcage anyway for under 9.xx and should be able to do that I would hope with my hardware. But it was built to be a street car.

I have my 91 auto talon race car project for track fun. Track only no street on that one.

C'mon Tom your cars a slug! And it aint so easy to get a good 60ft on a m6 , us auto guys have it a bit easier. Little rib there since used to be a m6.

Yeah his time is low 10 what is the mph work out too have to go back to the conversion charts I have trouble thinking in 1/8 mile our local track is 1/4 mile.Never been on an 1/8 mile track and they say turbo cars like ours pick up even more in the top 1/8 so that might explain bit lower mph in his.

My car better touch high 9s sooner or later at 130plus or will be sinking it in local lake!

And these pricey new LGs better rock the house!!

Not to much for now, may be some weight reduction (3,800lbs) and some slicks. Going to see if I can get high 9's out of it. I know the turbo's are a ticking time bomb, so once they go I'll do a LG turbo upgrade and a 408 build and may be T-brake.

If anyone swings through Abilene on there way to TX2K10, let me know if you want to set up a race. I can't make it this year...
