Supercharged M6 guys (and girls?)...
First off if there are any ladies with a supercharged F-body here then holy hell, where have you been all my life?... JK
I was wondering what kind of rear end gear ratios u guys are running with your supercharged F bodies?
Specifically 4th gen F body with T56-M6. Please also list tire size OD.
I will be ordering a built rear end first in preparation for the procharger later on and wanna get the gearing right the first time. My goal is 500+ hp/torque.
Been searching but info is hit and miss. I would like some examples of ppl who actually own this setup and drive it. My car will be 75% street time, but want it to be setup for 1/4 mile without shifting out of 4th. Also couldn't find much info on this..I must be searching in the wrong place, or wrong key words. DURRR.
Thanks

I run 3.89's in my 9in at the moment. Nice manners around town. I may want to switch to 3.70's because my car see's a lot of highway time so it'll bring the rpm down just a touch. I run 17in rims with Nitto 555R's at the moment. I havent ran it at the track with my 28x11.50 Mickeys yet. On the street, MPH wise I think I'd still be in 4th for the 1/4th.

Thanks. I was considering the 3.89s myself because I will also run that same tire on the street, Nitto 555R with 25.7" OD. My car does see alot of highway time but I don't care about sacrificing gas mileage by going to the shorter gears.
The Z already has an addiction to premium fuel, just like my right foot has an addiction to the floorboard. I wonder if there's a connection between those things? Hmm. I don't beat on my car ALL the time, but I'm not scared to drive it like I stole it.
Going back to 3.70s isn't going to bring your rpm's down much at all. You should check out this gear/rpm/speed calculator-- http://xse.com/leres/ss/calculator.html

The two things I am concerned about in regards with going to a supercharger later are:
1. Traction in 1st gear (directly affected by rear end gearing)
2. Running out of gear in the 1/4 mile and hitting the rev limiter in 4th
Altho, if I ran out of gear I could always spin the motor a little past factory rev limit. But then you get into a whole different world. I need to research the effects of this on the engine. I'm not sure if a stock long block would like being over-revved while being force fed at 7~8psi.
Not to mention the stock T56 surely won't like being over-revved, right?
So many variables, I'm still working on my homework.

Are you planning on keeping with the stock bottom end in the engine, and keeping boost around 8 psi? If so, 4.11 gears will work just fine at the track. If you plan on forging the bottom end and cranking up the boost, then I'd go with 3.70 gears. Bob

Bob, thanks for the advice.
Its a tough call. Initially I plan to keep the stock bottom end with around 8psi. After that I may want to go forged and crank up the boost. I suppose that would be way later on down the road.
I assume you suggest the 3.70 gear for better hole-shot traction with the increased boost/power levels?
Kind of a noob question but, around how much boost is the max for pump gas/93 octane?

14 psi is a good average for pump gas and a built engine with a good tune. Bob

I have 4.10 and bounce off the rev limiter in 4th @ 6700 a good little ways before crossing the line... Im thinking of switching to 3.90... It should put me right around 130mph before i hit the rev @ 6700...
Ive ran 11.4 @ 128 bouncing off the limiter in 4th.... Hope 3.90 will be enough gear to let me pass the traps without hitting the rev
