Default rear mount in a Chevelle

i know some guys are running rear mounts (turbo's)
i have run a bunch of Prochargers over the years, but always wanted to do a turbo-i wanted to keep the BB with the AC and stuff, in the 71 im working on,
was looking at maybe a rear mount turbo, maybe mount in the trunk, 2 into one exhaust, place the flange thru the trunk floor, run a pump for the oil, or make a self contained system, with a cooler
the one thing i was concerned about was the long way back up front with the carb intake pipe, seems like some lag would ocure-would mainly be a street deal
i remember a 63 Tempest with a sim setup, wish i had kept the mag that had the car-i think he had the turbo underneath though
anyone have a rearmount, advise-thanks

run ex.manifolds, no headers, & if you heat wrap from the ex. manifolds all the way back and a turbo blanket i don't think you'll notice any lag... i don't have a blanket but from what by buddies who know what lag feels like who have driven my car say.. " no noticeable lag what so ever " builds at about 3k and pulls to the rev limiter

What size motor? Stall gears? The turbo size is critical mine max's MAF ~3500 with manifolds. Search for Zombies posts he has excellent writeups that will get you real close and avoid 95% of the problems.

Good luck

A Chevelle has a big engine bay, no need for a rear mount.

I too have a 71 chevelle and you could mount another engine under the hood

Therefore making a rear mount a really bad idea. I don't understand why people want to do a rear mount setup on cars that have lots of space in the engine bay.

I'm going to build a dump truck for road course racing then, or a boat that's also a tunnel boring machine.

well, my reasoning was with the other chevelle (71) i wanted to leave the BB with all the fact. brackets, AC, bat up front, using mech fan, shrould, etc-with all that stuff, there is no room, i felt putting a rear mount would be the best solution-just something i was kicking around, after building 30 blower cars, running out of ideas, lol-the motor is built with low comp, just in case
when i built my 69 with the LS engine and Procharger, i was planning on twin turbos, but Procharger cut me a deal to stay with the belt, lol
i had kind of had stuff mocked up for the turbos, but didnt get any farther
i could have prob gotten more boost with turbos, def more MPH

I would rather move the accesories then cut holes in the trunk floor plan.
