Turbo on an m6?
I have heard that a lot of people get annoyed with m6s w/ a turbo being that they loose boost everytime they let up to shift. Along with being very violent when they spool and hard to drive on the street. Is this true? Does anyone have any input?
Im thinking about throwing a turbo on my 404 m6.

Umm, no. Yes an auto will hold boost through the shifts, but if you are trying to keep boost in a m6 car then it will spool up very fast after you shift if you are at a high rpm. Get some suspension and tires and its not violent at all on the street, at least mine isn't. If you are building a track car, then auto is the way to go, but for me m6 is just more fun on the street.

i bought my car when i was 19 Years onld and all i wanted was a 6 speed. I regret it now with my 76mm. Autos are just faster. I rode in a friend's Turbo 99 Camaro and 4200 rpm, Transbraked, 2 step launches on slicks blow an M6 car away ever time. I drop the clutch on a 4000 rpm 2 step 4lb launch on slicks and let down every time after that experience. but they are alot less maintenance, and more fun on the street than an auto.

turbo on a m6 is just.... fun as ****. if you give it full throttle in a low gear when the turbo spools yeah it can break the tires loose but cmon, its just as easy to not do that or to learn to control the burnout

Auto's are to turbos as peanut butter is to jelly.

man I'm next in the "I used to have a 6 speed, now i have an auto and it's actually fast" club. I'm saving up for a fully manual 4L80 right now. I'm stuck in the low elevens right now because i cant get my 60 down.

when you dont care about track times, and you just wanna have fun on the street... manual is a load of fun! ive driven high hp autos and manuals, i always enjoyed shifting but the ****** autos were always clearly faster

Its kind of a compromise I guess. If you dont have high hp (7,8-900+) then using A PROPERLY SETUP m6 in your combo isnt too much of an issue with the options we have today for the t56 and 6060. Wheel hop is a tranny killer so having a good suspension and the right upgrades will keep issues down. Once you really start getting into bigger power, you have to decide which is more important to you, going really fast, mostly in straight lines, or having fun ripping gears at a slightly lower hp level (or not getting on it at every stoplight.) People run each setup and its personal preference, giving both a whirl b4 choosing is your best way to go.
