Default D1SC vs heads/cam dyno graphs

I know to many variable to compare the two very well. I am just asking in general what does a dyno graph for a D1SC at 8lbs look like compared to your typical 440-460hp heads/cam car? I am trying to justify the almost twice the cost to get the D1SC over a heads/cam car.

More importantly than the dyno numbers how would the track times and acceleration difference compare between the two...of course in general.

Dont have any dyno graphs, but you'd think the blower would make more low end torque which would be alot more fun on the street. HP sells engines, torque sells tires! Torque is where its at for street fun.

A D1 at 8psi is more then 99% of heads cam cars will make. On 9psi I made 580ish. A blower kit has a lot more potential as well. If you make 440 on 8psi theres a problem.

Here is a basically stock 2005 LS2 GTO with 7.5 psi of boost from an ATI ProCharger, on a Mustang (eddy current) Chassis Dyno. At approx 40-50 rwhp to compare to a non eddy current Dynojet type of dyno. Bob

I was in the same boat as well when i first started looking into things but my reasoning was forced induction will be more street friendly and have greater room to grow into later on down the road. Granted i went a different direction with power adder but 9lbs of boost later and 606hp, i never looked back on my decision.

What does a 550RWHP-600RWHP camaro average in the 1/8th with a D1 setup? This seems to be a real common and dependable setup.

I have a H/C/I 98 camaro now and I'm picking up a D1sc kit this weekend and anxious to see what it will do.

its not even fair

go S/C 'd even at 7 psi your gonna spank 99.9% of the heads cam cars out ther.... when it comes time to sell you car you can always get decent $ for the kit vs the heads cam set up

Wow! I've been toying with this same issue. Thanks OP for bringing it up. Well, maybe not. At least my pocket book won't be thanking you. Cause I think this thread is pointing me in the direction of the D1SC.

04 GTO is a stock bottom end LS1. He asked for head cam LS1's vs D1SC and thats exactly what I posted.

Thanks guys for all of the posts this has been some good feedback. Tough topic to compare so I wasn't sure if I would get any comments at all. Ya I know if take money out of it then D1SC hands down, I guess I am just trying to justify the almost twice the cost. I guess its only money right, time to get the economy going and spend some of it.

I'm in the same friggin boat or will be in the future. I'd love to have a blower, but it's litterally twice the cost.

.......if your just trying to go fast and have no loyalty to a blower, why not mild heads and a cam and fab a turbo kit.... procharger price give or take with more midrange and top end power
