1967 Nova Build (LQ4 6.0L Turbo) need some advice
recently picked up a 2004 LQ4 from a Chevrolet truck with 45K miles that will be going into a 1967 Nova (2 dr hardtop)... it will have power steering, A/C, power windows and plan on driving it on the street and possibly hot rod power tour when complete in a few years
I have some questions... see bold items..
The engine build
2004 LQ4 6.0L
stock crankshaft
4.030" Wiseco dished pistons
Callies Compstar 6.125" rods
PRC stage 2.5 LQ9 ported heads
ARP head studs
ARP Main studs
Edelbrock pro-flo XT intake 71403
90 mm LS3 / LS7 TB
LS9 camshaft
stock rockers
LS7 Lifters
Ported LS6 oil pump
LS1 Camaro oil pan
Turbo setup
Turbo (TBD).. any advice?
TurboSmart 50 mm BOV
TurboSmart 50 mm Wastegate
Intercooler (TBD)
Tuning / ECU
Have the stock truck harness.. need some help on ideas?
Was thinking about the new Holley Avenger Dominator ECU setup (this new setup can control wastegate, methanol setup, also can read Wideband O2)
Don't have an ECU yet..
Transmission
4L80E
Converter (TBD) any advice?
Suspension
Front TCI pro-touring front end with 12" wilwood brakes
Rear, TCI pro-touring rear with ford 9" with 12" wilwood brakes
3.08 gears
Fuel System
80# injectors
1/2" feed line
dual intake pumps (still looking into this) any advice?
Methanol injection as well..
More picture to come of the car...

Holy intake runners... I have never seen this intake bfore pretty slick unit... Im assuming the hood has a rather man sized cowl to cover that puppy... I digress, sorry... what are your power goals for the car? That will help the guys with more knowledge then me point you in the right direction...

A stock crank will be absolutely fine for your power goals. I'd stick with it if it's in nice shape.
If you have a decent budget, I'd skip over the PRC heads in favor or a no GM casting head. Look into AFR or TFS to keep the price reasonable. Both these heads have they're own unique castings with a thicker deck, which will help a lot with keeping the heads down.
Since you have a lot of room, you can save some money on the turbo getup as well. I'd look into a truck manifold based kit. The truck manifolds have been proven to make big power, and you probably already have them. Make your own merge pipe and down pipe and you're in business.
You have many different turbo options as well. If you stick with the stock crank, you'll end up with a 370ci. Something with at least an 80mm turbine wheel will work great. Think ST80, PT88, etc. Even a S475 would work very well, and they can be had under $600. Since you have the room, as long as you're not turned off by the small weight penalty, I'd look into that as well.
I don't see a problem in just getting a truck ECM and running that. It will save you a ton of money, even after buying your own tuning software, and it's fully capable for what you're looking for. Sure, it doesn't have fancy alcohol control and what not, but honestly most people don't use that stuff anyways.
Converter will depend on how you want the car to act. And your target weight. Something in the 3000-3500 range is probably where you'll end up for a street/strip car.
Since the first gear in the 4L80e is so long, you might want to think about a slightly steeper gear. Going to depend on again, what you want out of the car, and what tire size you're running.
Dual in tank Walbros will support your power goals.
Hope this helps.

I wish my 2nd gen Camaro hood had clearance for that bad boy. I can't fit a truck manifold with factory position conversion mounts...

Stock crank
I agree, something in the 80 range.
stock truck or LS1 pcm with a harness from Speartech etc, or rewire it yourself. There are a ton of wires to remove and clean up. Then have to add a fuse block. Faster to buy one but it is rewarding doing it yourself.
Yank PY3400
3.42 gears if you have around a 26" tall tire. The 3.08's would be just fine though.
Dual pumps with one on a hobbs switch, maybe a Tanks Inc or RobbMC sender.

In your first picture, could you measure approximately how tall the manifold is over the top of the heads (without valve covers)? I have '63 Nova and I'm wondering if this manifold would clear my factory hood.
Thanks!

similar to my old buick build.
I would use stock crank as well, compstar rods and your choice of piston. Also if you have E85 locally DO IT, totally worth it.
If using pump gas, the 80# injectors are good, but i HIGHLY suggest not doing multiple walbros, look into Fuelab DC pumps, can get 850+whp out of a single and they have built in speed controls.
I would also look into some good aftermarket heads for the thicker deck, GM MLS gaskets
I had 3.08 gears and a 26.5" tire on mine and LOVED it with the 4l80, I also had a Fuddle 10.5" 3200 stall, and a borg warner S475 with the big 98mm turbine and 1.32 housing. For that turbo, or a S480 I would definately go with a 3600 stall. If you can swing it I would prefer a S480 with the big 1.32 housing and a spool valve

it ran awesome, i had a 280/290 on 112lsa cam in there from my NA GTO setup, with all the weight, 4l80 and a 3.08 with 28" tall tires it was pretty lazy. But i built it to stay on street tires and do street duty so the lag was perfect, it would just barely haze the tires up to about 70.
02 LQ4 6.0L iron block
224/224/112, 280/290 .560 lift lunati camshaft
Typhoon intake
65# injectors
2 bar HP Tuners
BW S475 1.32a/r T6
4" exhaust out the back
stock 4L80e and fuddle 10.5" 3200 stall
9" with 3.07 gears and spool full suspension
this pass was right after i got it done the 2nd year, with the stall and a very rich tune. 40mph headwind, 3200ft DA, 7psi and 10 degrees timing no intercooler, on 87 octane
60'-1.766
1/8-7.358
mph-97.65
1/4-11.425
mph-118.95
first year i trapped over 130 a number of times at 14psi 14* timing, no intercooler and a 26" DR. That was also with the stock pickup converter (1700 stall) and it ran 11.6-11.7 with a 2.20 60'
On some 100 octane race gas at 16psi and 12* timing no other changes I could pull cars that trapped 135 on the street. even beat a cobra that ran 10 flat from a 20 roll up to 140 by 3 cars, he was pissed
