Stock AFR 225 72cc vs CNC ported 317s
#2
I'm not sure what "TEA Stage 2 CNC ported 317" are, but sounds like a stock casting with some work done, if thats the case i would do the AFRs or if you can TFS heads because the deck is thicker... Hope you plan on running studs.

The 317s are ported stock castings from total engine airflow that fall a little short of the AFRs in the flow department.
I want to make enough power to push a 3800lb truck into the low 10's and the price diff is $1000

That is the weight I am shooting for. It can be done. I might go with stockers, I am in the planning stage so I look at all options and try to go the best way I can with what I got to meet my goal.

It depends on how much boost you're wanting to make. As has been posted, AFR's and Trick Flows are thicker, and so are the newer RHS heads. Here is a link to them. http://shop.brutespeed.com/RHS-54302...-RHS-54302.htm Bob

^^^mocking fail!...IMHO = "In my honest opinion" who cares if he said "in my" first.i think people understand
To the OP...I wouldnt spend the extra cheese....Those 317's will make great power. "IMHO" I would def strap them down with some ARP studs instead of bolts. The deck surface will be thinner with the 317 compared to AFR, TFS etc...
I believe you will be golden with 317'sand 1k extra in your wallet

You will make more power at a lower PSI with the AFR or TFS head, and if you need to turn up the boot later you will have a thicker deck to work with. Spend the extra money the first time around and you won't have to buy parts twice.

I think the 317's will meet your power needs/goals quit nicely and if I was you thats what I would go with, but, if you think the 1k wont be an issue, ^^^03supercobra is right, do it right the first time.
