Garret GT4088R opinions for 5.3?
I am thinking of going with a single turbo set-up on a stock 5.3 (will add a cam) that I have in my chevelle. It will most likely be mated to either a 4L60 or th350. I am not looking for anything crazy, maybe 500-550 rwhp. I am going to be using truck manifolds on the build. My question is would a Garret GT4088R get me at least close to those numbers? I found one for a pretty good deal. Thanks for any input.

Not sure, I havent heard back from the guy yet. He did list these numbers with it...
P/N 449739-5012
S/NIK000156
I havent been able to find anything that matches those numbers exactly though.

Also if this one is not suitable, is there budget based turbo that would work well? Maybe a stock one off of a something? Like I said I am not trying to build anything crazy at this point, mainly just want a decent runner until I can afford to build it more.

Looks like it might work. Here are some specs.

if you can get it for a good price I'd say go for it. best budget turbo is gonna be master power. about 600-750 pending on which one you choose.

The 4088R is a good turbo for street use.
It was the first turbo i ever had it made 550rwhp (stock auto) i honestly dont know how much more we could have push it as the entire engine was stock apart from valve springs to prevent float.
I was on full boost at 2800rpm and had power all the way to redline.

So from doind some looking around it looks like the GT4088R will be close to its limits even on the 5.3 but at the same time the S475 will work well but potenially be a bit laggy due to its size but gives me room to grow.

I'm thinking the 4088 is going to be to small, and I think I am going to do the s475 simply due to price, any reccomendation on which one to get between the 1.32 a/r 96mm or the 1.10 a/r 83mm? Both are T6.

Well change of plans again, found a good deal on a brand new MPT76 and bought it. It is the q trim 1.00 a/r. Thanks everyone for the help, Ive dealt a good amount with superchargers and nitrous (had multiple set-ups of both) but never a good turbo set-up so its all about learning.

The GT4088 is supplied with an Aussie ls1 turbo kit , T800.
It is a great choice if 500-550rwhp is all your after, very responsive and quick spooling making a fun street car.
The MPT76 is a good budget turbo, and will have the potential to take you beyond your initial power goals...... have fun.
