Default Multiple wastegates vs Large wastegate?

After looking around, I havent found any real discussion about this, so I figured I would ask. Is there any difference really? Or function is the same..

I just want to know if I would be better off with two 38-44mm wastegates over 1 60mm wastegate..

I am going to be running a forged high CR 370, with a 91mm Garrett turbo, and I want to be sure to keep the boost in check.. I only plan to run about 15-20# on e85, I just want to be sure I dont have any issues with boost creap... ect..

Cost wize its about the same, I am just looking at a larger surface area with two, and room is not a problem.

Thanks

Its not only surface area that makes a difference in this case. Friction will also play a vital roll as well as other factors. So just because the two smaller gates have a larger cross sectional area, that does not mean they will flow more than a larger single of less area. Lengths of the dump tubes will play a large part too. The problem becomes too hard to analyze for most people. I would just look at similar setups and see what worked for them and what would be easier for you to fabricate. Unless you have a lot if time in your hands to properly analyze the entire situation.

2 waste gates here

points to ponder:
valve sq area VS diaphram / piston area
options of staging boost control, if you dont have a electronic boost controller
abilty to place gate where u want it

On that motor combo, either would work fine. How are you planning on running the pipes and wastegate intersection?

Depends on the setup. If your going with a divided T4 or T6 then twin gates would work best...38mm (tials) will do the trick. However, if its undivided then 1 larger (60mm) one will be the best.

If I ran two, I was going to place the gates on the pipes as they went into collector for the turbo flange. I plan to run either an eboost2 or ams500..

The turbo housing is an undivided t6 flange.

I would only run the one gate then. Two gates on a single collector...non divided is a bit excessive.
