Default Twin MP61s vs PT76gts on 370

Hey guys

Im real close to buying turbo parts for my 370. Its going into my 67 Camaro Stick car. just street driven, no track time. stock 317 heads and lq4 cam for now. forged pistons and rods, arp main and head studs...

Wanted to get your thoughts on twin Master Power T61s vs something like a PT 76gts

I dont want laggy, but i dont want to be done by 5800 rpm either. But, I dont want boost when im trying to cruise for mpgs

Goals are 650-700 at the wheels with a bit of room to grow.

what do you think?

thanks

Twin PT-6265 turbochargers That will do exactly what you're looking for, still capable of 1000+ hp, similar power to GT35

well, im leaning toward the master power stuff because its cheaper. i realize that they probably arent going to give me every last drop of hp compared to precision or others.

so this t61 is about as close to that 6265 as i could find
810041-068 T-61 / P-TRIM 500-550 .70 101.7 64.0 61.0 91.0 45 6 .68 T4 V-BAND UNDIVIDED 64.5 74.0 76 10

ive been told that twin mp t61s might max out right at 800 rwhp. a PT76gts is about the same, right?

keep the opinions coming

the GTS should cover your goals and spool decent with the stick

never been around twins, but i would think twin P-trims would have the ability to support more

The twin 61's can make more power but both will come on very quick. Keep the compression up and at least throw a ls6 cam in there.

CR is going to be around 9.2 i think. ls6 cam will be coming. i just want to see what the stock cam does first.

so it sounds like the T61s are the way to go over the 76gts?

I know my P76GTS would not be happy on that many cubes... back pressure will be silly.

I would want more compression than that unless you already have the pistons. If you already have the pistons use some ls6 heads. Your just making it harder on yourself as the stock lq4 cam doesnt have any advantage especially since ls6 cams are around $100. Depending on what year your cam is it would be
191/190 .457/.466 114 or
196/207 .467/.479 116

Both are turds on a stock motor let alone a 370. If you want a sleeper the ls6 cam is still silent but just a little better and super cheap.
204/218 .555/.551 117.5 02-04 ls6 cam specs

i already have the pistons, but the 317s do need cleaned up, so if needed, i can mill them a bit. what CR do you recommend?

ok, ill just stick the ls6 cam in now. is that 100 bucks new?? or used?

thanks

The twin 61's are a solid bet especially if you are on a budget.
Twin pte 6262's would also work great too. Call me and we can discuss your options.

thanks

Those turbos are only $275 less than a PT6262/65. http://shop.virginiaspeed.com/produc...&categoryId=35

Do it right and do it once. You'll have plenty of room to grow with the PT62s

so again, what do you guys think the difference would be for the t61s vs the 6262s? spool time, max power at 10 psi, 15psi?

thanks

9:1 Compression on Cali gas isnt an issue. He isnt building a racecar here running on racegas all the time.

the 4G63 was 7.8:1 from the factory. Id say Mitsubishi did well building that engine
