Default Turbo Sizing

I currently have a Garrett GT-76 turbo with a 76 on the compressor side and a p-trim on the turbine side.

I was told it was too small for my 408 and that it would choke on the top end and have too much back pressure. I had originally thought about 600rwhp. This is using a Trick low front mount setup.

Here is the setup:
Silverado truck
408ci with a 9:1 cr
4L60 built
14 Bolt w/TruTrac
Trick single low mount

The turbo is mounted right where the stock exhaust manifold ends with a crossover from the drivers side to the passenger side.

What size turbo should I get to make 600-800 rwhp? I want it too spool quickly so it drives good on the street rather than a track use only setup. Hoping for low 11's.

Also, how much should I ask for my current Garrett GT-76?

Same questions but on a different build.

Here is the setup:
Ram truck
413ci with a 9.2:1 cr
518 built
Dana 60 w/Locker
STS rear mount

The Hemi currently as a the same turbo but with a .96 A/R vs the .81 I was going to use on the Silverado. I also thought about using both turbos on the Silverado and just make it a twin setup but then the turbos are too big.

Turbo manufacturers/dealers please feel free to chime in with a suggestion and pricing for a turbo.

Is space limited?....You can get a GT88 with a t-4 1.23 a/r exhaust housing. You will need the big housing to prevent backpressure on the 408.

I just got back from the track where a bud ran 10.7 on his Silverado SS with full weight and on 22 with street tires. He has twin GT35's.

Does Garrett even make an A/R that big? Who makes the GT88 and what are the specs?

when your talking 400+ CI a T4 with a 1.2* isn't considered big, big motors need to breathe.

I searched for "GT88" and I got a link to Forced Induction. They have a budget Garrett series GT-88 with a 94mm turbine wheel. I think that may be overkill for me though. Take into account I am only looking to make 600 rwhp with a max some day of 800 rwhp. The above turbo is rated for 1400 hp which is about +1100 rwhp(20% dt loss) in my application. Being so big won't it be really laggy?

How about there GT-76? It has the same size turbine wheel and can have the same(1.23) a/r but with a smaller compressor wheel capable of 1000hp and it's only $1100. I don't know if it has journal or ball bearings though.

Also, I got a quote from Comp for a turbo with a 80mm compressor wheel and 79mm(can upto 87mm) turbine wheel with ball bearings for $1600. Can be had with a billet wheel for $300 more.

You got any pics or links to a pic?

How does it work to dispence heat?

I take it you run a oil pump?

I posted pics of the turbo here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...ify-turbo.html

If you were looking for pics of the turbo pipes I haven't taken any but could if you want to see them also.

I haven't installed it yet so I don't know how well it dissipates heat. Yes, I will be using an oil return pump.
