370 + F1c @ 900-1000hp.... double pin crank? Key?
Im working on a build that will be firing up within the next couple months...
I guess you could say after a couple searches its one thing I overlooked... the crank (stock solid 6.0 crank) has been single pinned with a ATI pinning kit.
Should I double pin it? Pin and key it? Is it possible to use a stronger pin vs whats normally used? Motor is still out of the car so adding another pin or other method wouldnt be a problem.
Thanks...

I'd double pin it since you're shooting for big numbers. Keyways would be best, but that requires taking the crank to the machine shop. Bob

Thanks guys... the motor is already assembled and single pinned. I guess I will double pin it and hope it works out. I suppose I cant cut for a keyway since its already assembled.
This is a belt driven.... no cog.
LS1RedZ... me too.... should be fun!

Bringing this one back up.... after a short delay (wife laid off from job) Im getting back into finishing my car.
So I pulled the ATI balancer off the motor.... the crank has already been pinned once and uses the ATI slot for that particular pin. Id like to add a pin 180* out from the existing pin.... I suppose I have to send this ATI balancer out to have machined for another slot to accomodate the 2nd pin? What have you guys done in the past to double pin a ATI balancer? Thanks

Interesting, i'm building an N/A 383 ls1 build but there may be plans in the future to add some FI as i left some room to move with the setup iv gone with, motor is out and going to a machine shop this week or next to get crank balanced/checked and block machining for new pistons, is it worth waiting a week for my under drive pulley kit to arrive and sending that off to have a keyway or pinning done (which ever would be better) for the crank and balancer?
And would it be worth putting in two or one should be enough even for n/a atm?
won't be crazy but might spin motor to 800-900hp tops with FI if add later on.

in the same boat but with a 370 and a d1 is there anyway I can just double pin the crank using the ati kit ive already bought by putting two pins in aline as in pin it once then pull the fixture out a little and pin the second a little more forward on the crank.

Cool I think I will get the machine shop to do that then while it's apart, as I really don't want to have to pull this motor down again unless I 100% have to. And if I do it will only be the heads to swap out headgaskets to factory or 0.060" specs to drop the compression with the pistons iv got.

If I’m reading this right you guys, the pins go vertical through the crank not in from the front? If they go vertical don’t the pins get in the way of the crank bolt?
I have used the ati pinning kit that puts the pins in from the front, with two pins horizontal I spun my f1 to 22psi on the stock crank with no issues
