Default goal for 2k11, i want to hit 1000flywheel. do able?

Ight guys tell me if I'm far off. But I want to set a goal for myself on my firebird, I want 770 whp by 2012. I'm figuring 770 with a 30% drivetrain loss that's 1000 hp right? Am I close? I think I can do it with a new bottom end and with my 317's,e85,tc78? My injectors are at 60% duty cycle now at 10lbs it makes 570whp. 200 whp doesn't seem too far for me.

I don't know I'm just sitting here pondering.

Here's what I got now
Stock ls2
Ported 317's with prc .675 double springs titanium caps etc
Big turbo cam, hardened pushrods
Tc78 front mount, 2.5 charged pipes 4 in dp about 2 foot long
Built 400 turbo with a fti 3500 built convertor
9in ford rear
Massive fuel system 2000hp magnafuel pump 80lb injectors turned up to 80psi (around 105lb's I think) I'm at 570hp at 60% duty cycle on e85 now. Soo 200whp seems do able 8an lines (the line might hold me back on e85,were see though)
Arp head bolts
Zr1 head gaskets

Now I'm gonna buy diamond pistons here soon and put them on my forged 6.1 length eagle rods on my stock ls2 crank. Ill also stud the main caps this time in the motor. That's what ill have to try to hit 770whp. Hopefully that's do able. Give me some pointers you motor gurus
Maybe 16-17 pounds of boost? That should be about max on that tc78 power wise right?
All and all In the end i want to say "ya it makes 1000 horse".

Another thing I need help on deciding is what cc dish to get with my new pistons. I'm at 10.2 to 1 now and ill have a chance to change that now. I think I'm just gonna try to get it around 9.5 to 1.

Probably need to swap my arp head bolts for studs to huh?

Okay first,i don't think you have 30% drive train loss. Also I don't think that tc78 especially with a .96 housing is going to do it. On a forged 347 through a 9 inch and locked converter I was maxed out at 675whp on 15psi on my tc78. You just need a bigger turbo and you will hit your goal no problem.

its a 1.15 ar exhaust, not like that really changes it much. but geez i didnt think a tc78 was that weak.

i figured 30% from a big stall 400 turbo threw a 9inch . ill research that now and figure it out

so 800 wheel would be 1000 at 20%.. hmm.. thats probably not do able on this turbo..

i guess since im a poor white kid i can just redo my motor and spin it up to whatever i get and i should be somewhere near the ballpark

thought these tc78's were good for 800whp for somereason. i remember turbonectics saying they were good for 1100 flywheel but i know thats not close.

Hellbent made 825whp with it through a 4l80e IIRC. Said the backpressure was through the roof, but it did it.

If you want to make power with that turbo you need good head flow, short duration moderate lift cam, keep rpm's down and boost up. I've been 130mph in a 4850lb truck pulling all 4 with a tc76/.96. Shifted at 5500rpm.

Tc will be very tough to make that power with 360+ cubes. The 5.3 would have a much better shot. Also I tend to agree with the op for drivetrain loss. Turbo 400 and a stall and a 9" are going to show some power loss, but it should be an animal. Id look into the 80mm + range if you want over 700rwhp through your setup.

BTW, going from a Tc to a Pt7875 was a huge upgrade for me.

ya im a big dummy when it comes to turbo sizing. I guess ill just call forced inductions and tell em what i want to do.

Its crazy how with a 5.3 you can make more power on a tc78 then you can with a 6.0 .
I guess it matters on the volume of exhaust gases that is dumped threw the exhaust housing huh
