I'd kill to see those guys with the 4 second (1/8th mile) mustang with the old stock 5.3 post up a chassis dyno. I don't think they dyno'd it, but given the way it ran on 42 lbs. of boost, it would likely turn this site on its head. That thing had to be in the 1500 hp range at least at the crank.

Barry cook make like 1150hp/1250tq on a chassis dyno with a stock L33. Spit a rod eventually but he had been running it hard for a few years.

The mustang I'm talking about was met with destruction as well, but not after beating on it for a couple seasons. It ended up lifting the head (imagine that, lol) and torched the block and head. Upon tear down there were some bent rods as well. The crazy part is that who knows how long the rods where bent. Crazy enough, the bent rods probably lowered the compression a little bit and helped keep it alive.

The things that some of these people get away with on these cheap motors is enough to make me slit my wrists sometimes. I constantly battle an internal demon that laughs at me for throwing a ton of money at my iron 4 head bolt 408 that still doesn't make the power they are.

I hear ya! Had more trouble with machining BS trying to use aftermarket parts than I care to admit. Wish I would have stuck to factory short blocks as well. Tired of pulling apart "built" motors when guys are making twice the power on factory original stuff and racing the whole season.
