Default 1969 Chevelle 5.3 Twin Turbo TNT Results

I didn't run any new bests per se. I did however run a new best mph doing my own tuning. I just thought I would post some video and the time slip from last night to show the potential these junk yard 5.3's have.

This is how the car ran after driving it all day and running it on pump gas E85. For those who do not know the car, I do NOT run an intercooler but am spraying water injection via -20 windshield washer fluid. Again, I am just trying to take baby steps on the tuning. The car as heavy as it is really needs to leave on more boost. It was a dog off the line. Most of that is because my timing is probably still way too conservative and it can't build any boost. Once the boost kicks in it pulls like a freight train. I shifted at 5800 and it actually shifted around 6300 per the data log.

Anyways, I left on 3lbs of boost and hit a total of 12 lbs last night in 93 degree weather. I ran it on the same tires I drive it everyday on.

Here is an update. The new track owner let me TNT tonight between rounds of racing. I drove to the track listening to tunes, made 5 passes, and drove home. I added 2 degrees of timing while on the transbrake and it definitely helped.

Here is the time slip

Here is the video

Please post up some build pics or a build thread... My Grand National may be going under the knife very soon and this is exactly the kind of thing I am interested in. E85, no I/C, 5.3 and small turbos.

What stall/Rpm are you running? How does the setup do on the highway or normal driving?

I know your suspensions flat works, so im scratching my head about the 60 ft being so slow.

sounds like it is barely building any boost off the line. what is your timing on the brake? and how much boost are you leaving on, what rpm, etc

It doesn't look or sound like a suspension/traction issue to me, just not leaving hard enough... Someone just needs to throw some timing and more loud pedal at it and see what it's got.

The timing is at 22 degrees while on the brake. It will only build about 3-4 lbs of boost and when I let go of the transbrake it feels like it just falls on its face until I hit the 70ft mark, then it launches my *** in the back seat! lol

It actually ET 118.42 mph last night.

The launch rpm is 3600 but my 2 step wasn't cutting out so I think my stall is less. At 3400 rpms the 2 step will cut out but wont' build boost. I was worried if I raised the 2 step to 4200 and that being above the actually stall it might burn the trans up.

Stock truck manifolds turned forward and upside down. 3" pipe to a set of cheap as mufflers.

That's some wicked mph!!!
Capable of low 6 to high 5 et, just need more grunt.
You might try adding timing, say around 32 to 34 total before boost.
This should help a bunch. If you are leaving on 3 lbs you should still be able to keep the timing around 30 to 32 deg. and not have any problems.

118mph in the 1/8 mile.... nice one!

What do you guesstimate the car weighs with you in it?

i would raise the 2 step to about 4200, then sit on the tb till it gets over the hump. the first 3 psi are slow, then once you get past say 5 psi, it will quickly build boost and climb in rpm.

next time you go out, try being on the tb for up to 5 secs just to see how much boost it builds.

btw,118 mph should be a 5 sec pass.
