Default Boost Labs Billet BL375R Photos

After high back pressure results on my 4.8L with a Magnum 76/67 .96, I decided to try the BW stuff with a custom wheel and race housing. Wheel is rated at 115LB/1150HP. Turbine is 83.5/74 with the 1.10 t4. I will be running a 4" exh to the rear axle.

Old setup made 618HP at 16psi thru 4l80e, 730HP/747TW at 18psi/50 shot. 18PSI had 55psi Exhaust back pressure. That said, I hope this can make 800 wheel all boost and stay at or under 1 to 2 ratio. Goal is to go 9's 1/4 with a race weight of 4550 while still on a stock 4.8L.

Nice unit. You should pick up the additional power you want because it has a higher flowing compressor wheel, a larger exhaust wheel and a larger turbine housing.
I still think backpressure will be over 2:1.

Ya I agree, probably going to be 2:1. But you will get alot for rpm out of and power.

Yes backpressure will be through the roof. We build the 11 blade units for many companies.......and one thing is certain, you better run a larger turbine side since the compressor flows much better. We have seen 3:1 on some setups.

I'm running the batmowheel 374 on my car. I have the 87mm turbine wheel uprgrade. I think you will love this thing.

Thanks guys for the info. Glad to hear the compresor flows so well. I do need some mid end though, I have to move 4550 pounds from a stop and so far I been doing that leaving 3300 RPM for 1.49-1.52 60s with 10-12psi on the hit. Remember this is only a 293 c.i setup.

I can move to a 1.25 later if I can't meet my goals as well.

Magnum turbo BP results.

5 PSI Boost = 17 PSI Exhaust
10PSI Boost = 29 PSI Exhaust
15PSI Boost = 41 PSI Exhaust
18PSI Boost = 54 PSI Exhaust
21PSI Boost = 55 PSI Exhaust

I would suggest later down the road, skip the 1.25A/R and just move to the 87mm LDP turbine wheel and have your current turbine housing CNC'ed to match.

Why didnt you just go with a PTE 7675?
There is documented power with 5.3L motors at 800+ HP.

Just curious...that 83/75 seems like overkill on a 4.8L but would enable you to go up to a 6.0L LQ4/LQ9 and make major power as long as you have the fuel.

I guess you think Dr. Turbo is just lying then and telling him false information?

You guys have got to get over these tiny turbine wheels for LS motors. The writing is on the wall with Foose's results at 5psi manifold pressure he already was 3:1 on backpressure!!!

BTW that PTE wheel is 75/83 so it's nearly the same thing as what he has now with the BW turbo....and the BW is cheaper to boot....better turbo IMO also.

I am not doubting anyone.
It is actually my mistake as I read the post wrong.
The pure size of that turbo made me read/think he meant the inducer was 83 mm.

^This, I went to the larger 1.32 96mm BW and my turbo spools off just fine granted I run a 6.0 and a cameron built 3500 stall. I think Foose will be fine on this he has a good cam a good stall and a small shot to get things moving.

I switched from a 67/76 .96A/R garrett never measured back pressure but I am sure it was worse than what was posted for the 4.8 I could feel the car nose over past 6K rpm. It worked but its not the best

Update on setup. Everything is in, big thanks to Kyle at KB-Racing for the downpipe and 3" intercooler pipes. I also got the rest of 4" exhaust done dumping over the rear axle. The tips are still in the roll pan for looks mainly. First feedback... This is a big dang turbo and it drives like a big turbo on this engine. It's like I removed the bov because it's never releasing pressure during normal driving lol like it did before. Truck is much deeper on the 4" setup and it below 3k you have Zero boost. Right around 3K you start to get like 1psi lol and it takes a few to really come online. Best way to describe this turbo on a 4.8L is simple, it's drag racing turbo. A few people said I should have went bigger on the A/R or bigger turbine wheel, those people haven't install one of these a 293, or didn't really look over my setup. You would need a 3600+ stall or less weight. I can say without a doubt I will need nitrous to get this very heavy truck out the hole now with my tight 3k stall and I wouldn't put it past I MAY have to get a smaller housing, well see how it does though.

On to power, man its like a damn freight train. It's very very strong and once over the hump the damn thing rolls. I wasn't able to test it out much though as my 40mm wastegate can't keep up. I even put the light spring back in it. It opens around 12-13psi and by 5500 it rocketing past 20psi. I was at 105% injector at 5500 and 12.4 airfuel. This is with the deka 80s@ 60psi base, dual walbro 400s, KB boost a pump to both pumps, 8an feed. E85

This turbo flows some air, but I have to get a new gate in there now. What do you guys recommend? Install another 40? Or try to cutup and go bigger on my current location.

You have a sound clip of your truck? Just kinda want to see how that Borla XR-1 Muffler sounds like.

Strangle enough, it's actual pretty quiet for a 4" setup. It's mellow, but under boost it gets pretty healthy.
Truck has a mild Speed Inc Tu1 cam

Track Update:

First time out got some new bests at low boost. Boost was right at 15psi, used nitrous to get it on the 2step faster but off at 3000 remained of during runs. Left on the 2-step at 3300-3400 and trans brake with around 5psi boost.

Looks like I need just a little more RPM or maybe a small window on the bottle to get it 60 in the 1.4x and then I should have a 9 second truck with the little 293.

Well see, awesome turbo though!
