Default ***Important Oil information for ANYONE****

Lately, Ive been seeing a LOT of failed turbos, and failed camshaft/lifters.

Ive been in the LSx game for over a decade, and rarely do I see failures. We are a mailorder based company with 3 full time techs doing installs and R&D.

Over the last 10 years, We have recorded approximately 10 failed lifters from customers in the US with our cam kits. We sell on average 150-200 cam kits per year, and more cams by themselves. 6 of these have been in the last 12 months.

We have also seen a lot of turbo thrust bearing failures. This is VERY abnormal.

Have you heard about the LS7 exhaust valve dropping syndrome? It just started rearing its ugly head too... Its guide wear... Why? Because the oil cannot protect properly!

Its the oil people. Run a quality oil with proper additives. Redline, Joe Gibbs, Brad Penn, etc OUR ENGINES NEED THE ADDITIVES THAT THE EPA HAS MADE STREET OIL BLENDS REMOVE.

PLEASE READ BELOW.

As long as the Zinc/ZDDP content is high, its good. Redline has 2000+ ZDDP PPM, which is great. Never had a problem with it.

I run CAM2 BlueBlood exclusively which has some of the highest levels of ZDDP and zinc out there.

So the T6 still has the zinc content posted in that thread, even today?

Yep, sure does! Redline is on par with 2200+ ppm ZDDP.

Glad to see it.

I used their break-in oil for my new motor, which has over 3500ppm of ZDDP.

Good stuff.

CAM2 is all I run in all of my cars.

Good to know!

In the corvette community, this is a HUGE issue with the C3 crowd, as they are all flat tappet. They have no roller cams

Its also a big issue in the cummins community, but when you put a cam in from Hamilton Cams, you HAVE to break it in properly, or youll fail the cam or lifter(s)!

Not true. You can run zinc with no concerns of it hurting your cats. The way cats are made today, the zinc won't hurt them, plus you shouldn't be pushing that much oil out your motor anyways. Fix the blowby first.

Nice info, Louis.
That FP article is the reason I switched to VR1 Racing oil. It is recommended AND it's on the shelf from my local parts guy.
