Default Help me decide whether to keep my procharger or just do heads?

Okay well I'm in between jobs and I thought I had a sure thing job lined up and now its been a month and still no call. I have money stashed away, but I don't want to put the procharger on until I have a solid job again because with the procharger I know the 4l60e is going to go pretty quick and that's another $2500 for a built tranny. Now if I do a set of heads I'll have like $1200 into and that's not a big deal. BUT with a set of heads I can't really add anymore power after that. My problem is if I keep the procharger I will have to wait a lot longer to put it on and add power to the car.
... So tell me what you guys think? Is it worth it to wait and put on the procharger or should I just do a head swap and call it good? I about changed my mind and sold the procharger for heads, but now I'm leaning back to the procharger. Give me your thoughts!

I would just wait to do the procharger. Doing heads MIGHT, MIGHT add 20-50hp depending on how much you spend on them and how much it bumps compression. Do a procharger, with 5-7psi and you'll see 100rwhp if not more.

I agree, and to ad to that, I had my stock high (more than you think) mile engine and trans with stock verter making 450rwhp for a while and never hurt anything. I did get on it quite a bit here and there but didnt half throttle it from every red light I came across either. Id say go ahead and install theprocharger and keep the hp moderate enough to enjoy and later when the job is able to allow a trans build then up the hp and go from there. PM me if you want to know more details about the setup I had. I sold that car BTW and it was still haulin *** when it left my driveway.

It depends what your going to do for heads,if your in a tough situation i would wait on boost, and if you have a complete d1sc im intrested as well, they sell quick,if i was in your shoes i would just put modding the car off, unless ya have some spare cash aside,

sell it. buy some heads that will raise the compression, and buy a nitrous kit.

Very bad idea to spend money when you don't have any coming in.

I got one for sale if you are looking for one, shoot me a pm.

If you don't have a job i wouldn't be doing mods to a car. However, a procharger is going to cost more, but will provide more power. It depends on how fast you want to go.

Ha I just got rid of my nitrous kit. I ran that for about a year or so and I just got sick of filling it up and I had alot of stupid problems with it so I'm not a big nitrous fan. Didn't like how the power wasn't always there either. I could only use it when a race was setup.

Don't bother with heads run the procharger. Just don't go crazy with boost untill you have money for the Trans. But really what are you doing if you have no job? I'm going to assume you liveat home with little bills? If so then enjoy that and go to town

Actually it's a weird situation, but I am living almost free lol. We just pay the gas/electric bill each month which isn't very much. The thing is the parents got a job and relocated so me and the wife are living in there house until they can sell it. I think everyone has persuaded me to be patient and do the procharger though.....

Procharger! it will be worth the wait. Your not going gain near as much power with just a head change. Not worth it in my eyes.

yeah man. I have heard the blower run on my car (d1sc back in december) but that was it. I have had a kit for the car well over a year now and everything needed and still have yet to drive it. You really have to take your time and prep for boost. I am hoping to fire it up around march. Technically from november 2011 till now is how long its taken me. I could have bought a brick house by now.
