Default Lots of turbo questions!! 5.3+xxmm

Alright guys I need some advice on which way to go on a couple things.

On to the car.
2000 Camaro Z28

Motor and turbo setup
2007 lm7 5.3l iron block (9.5:1 compression
317 heads
comp 918
ls6 cam
mls head gaskets
ls7 lifters
ls2 timing chain
ls6 oil pump
underdrive pulley
comp hardened push rods
arp head and rod bolts
cxracing intercooler & piping
2 bar map sensor
60lbs injectors
RPS 50mm BOV
JGS 40mm wastegate

Drivetrain
TH400
Neil chance 4000 stall
B&M ratchet shifter w/Trans brake
Tci flexplate

Moser 9"
Full Spool
31 spline axles
9/16 studs
3.73s

Full suspension with 6point chromoly cage

I'm combining 2 different builds so I have options
And here's where you guys come in:

Intake:
I have an ls6 with a stock tb and speed inv fuel rails with 60lb injectors
Or
Ported Vic. Jr with 90 to a 95mm tb edlebrock fuel tales and 60lb injectors

I know the victor jr would look way badass but it was ported to fit 245cc heads on a 402, not a 5.3 with 817's. I also know the ls6 flows very well under boost, but i say why not the Vic jr if I could make some more hp.

Scavenge pump: what are you guys running?

Radiator: same question

The 5.3 was already run on a turbo setup and made 626hp with a 76mm huron speed turbo, what would be an ideal turbo to run?

What rear gears should I go to? 3.23 3.42? Not trying to break records, just want a badass street car.

With a 4000 rpm stall and a brake I would look into jumping up to a Borg Warner t6 turbo. Anything from the s475 to the s480 would probably work well with the appropriate turbine wheel. I am trying out the On3 scavenge pump, but I know a lot of guys run the Turbowerks pump.

Run the LS6 intake and a netics 7675 unless youre willing to run a different camshaft to take full advantage of a S400 series borg.

Cam swap wouldn't be that big of a deal considering the work that still needs to be done. What kind of cam? TU1 TU2?

Run the ls6 intake, run a 3 bar map, 3.00 gear or less, and I like the precision 7675, but the new turbonetics looks promising also.

Your 373 gears will definitely not load the turbo. Engine will rev too easily. You need to lug the car with 3.00 area gears.

When it comes to turbo cars and gearing...theres more than one way to skin that cat.

In one of my customers cars.. he went quicker and faster in the 1/8 mile with 3.90 gears and a converter that slips 5% than he did with 3.55's amd a converter that slipped 12%

TU2 is a decent cam. Proven to work. Not the same approach I would take....but to each their own.

Personally Id do something with a little less overlap.

Liljohn- I only suggested the tu1 and tu2 cames because I see they're pretty popular with other turbo builds. If you have another suggestion, by all means that's why I started the thread, for input from the experts(you guys!!)

Ive put guys with 5.3's and S475's in cams ranging from 226/231 to 239/239.... really depends on just how nasty you want things to be.

Most of my customers with 5.3's and the T-netics 7675's I have them running our LS2 Stage 1 Turbo cam or LS3 Stage 1 turbo cam depending on several factors.

LS2 Stage 1= 226/231 .605/.598 114+3
LS3 Stage 1= 226/235 .605/.610 114+2

The LS3 Stage 1 would work with a smaller 87mm turbine S400 series Borg as well.

Martin what cam would you use for the 92mm turbine in a 400 series?

I agree with liljohn on the gear, what ever gets you at peak power at the stripe.

It would depend on the size of the engine, intake manifold used, cylinder head used, weight of the car etc.
