Default 6.2l twin turbo build

Now that the first rounds of parts has been purchased and the second round being saved up for I figured I might as well start a thread on this.

This is going to be going in my new fun street car/ hopefully whoop *** if anyone wants to street race it car.

Got a 6.2 truck motor out of a 2010 GMC Yukon from a fellow tech member

started the tear down. looked pretty good to me. 50k miles on it

some slight pitting on one of the pistons, doesn't look like a cause for concern to me. Though if I am wrong correct me please

first round of goodies arrived

gotta love shiny new parts

I work with almost all ford guys at work so I took this picture to send to them

fast forward a week and a few more boxes arrived

looks like the doctor delivered my set of twins
BW S366 with billet wheels. 66mm .88A/R

mmmm billet

Bov, wastegates, and DOD delete conversion stuff all on the way still.

Going to run this stock bottom end for the time being until I can set aside funds to stroke it to a 416 and up the boost. For now I just want to get it up and running to drive the car some this summer.

Will be running either a big single or twin air to water intercoolers depending on how space works out,

Fuel will be the Aeromotive A1000 pump/rails/regulator from my camaro with a appropriate sized injector (suggestions welcome) This will be on 93 only, will run meth if I have to but not planning to initially.

9" rear end already in place, swapping to a 3.0 rear gear so I can cruise as a decent rpm, this car will see 3-4 hr highway drives. 4l80 trans with a billet triple disk converter.

comments, questions and suggestions all welcome. cheers

My dad had one of those cars "back in his day". Back then, it came from the factory with a little hopped up 4 cylinder, and my old man used to tell me of how fast it was.

You sir, are quite insane for even thinking about making that kind of power in that car!

Awesome build

yeah it shouldn't take all that much power to make it respectably fast, it weighted 1900lbs with a sbc and a glide, i figure with interior, glass and all it will be around 2200-2500lbs tops when im done with everything. hoping to make 6-700hp on the stock bottom end then 900 plus once its stroked and forged. Most of my friends agree with you about the insanity part.

My friends havent owned 800hp cars before so they dont know how hard it is to revert to slow cars. I see it as juuuuust right. Turbos were $1200ish per. The pics dont do justice to how beautiful those wheels are

Ought to spool pretty decently. The cam was specd with those turbos, converter, rear gear ect in mind. The cam is a little big for the stock cubes but will be perfect for once I stroke the motor.

nothing too crazy. 620ish lift 240ish duration on a 116lsa. Will give a hint of a rumble through the straight sidepipes/down pipes I think

going as fast as I can believe you me, only problem is I am working off the budget of a parts store employee and I don't have have the fab skills to weld up my own kit/mounts ect. I can turn all my own wrenches but some of it I have to save up a while to pay others for. Need Denmah to make a clone to send down here or something unless there is fellow techie in the hampton roads area willing to lend skills to this.

With the car being so light I don't need to make boost way down low, blowing the tires off doesn't serve much purpose although fun. Goal for those turbos and cam is to bring the power on in such a fashion as to give the car a little time to hook since this is a pure street car.

With a car that light, plan on blowing off those big tires at 80+ MPH. I would venture to say when the turbos and the stroker come together with that Opel Gt body, its gonna be like an ice rink until triple digits, even if the tranny, and suspension are setup.

I think you are going to be right, my camaro broke the tires from a 3rd gear roll at 70 in 3rd (stick) at about 800 hp, fortunately it never tried to go sideways on me, always stayed straight.

this has a much shorter wheelbase so if it does go sideways its gonna happen in a hurry. Upside is the car is tube chassis with a 4 link so the suspension is about as good as its gonna get minus spring and shock changes. Challenge is I won't be running those slicks on the street obviously, going to be running a 10.5 inch tire.

That "pitting" on the piston looks like someone used a sharp punch on the top of the piston.
Had this motor been apart before or something?

As far as I know the motor has never been apart. Except for the intake to pull the motor. Anything is possible but to the best of my knowledge no.

Same turbos I plan on going with for my 408 build. Which turbine did you end up going with?
