IAT'S way too high, more intercooler??
Hi all tech guru's. so im running a 6.0 twin turbo with z06 cam etc, motor is forged internals. im currently running about 10psi boost. while I was out the other day for the maiden voyage I noticed my iat's getting really hot. while cruising around they were about 100-105* and almost instantly went to about 170-175* as soon as I got it up to about 8psi. I'm wondering if I just have not enough intercooler or maybe something else is wrong? the intercooler has fairly good airflow to it. The intercooler is right up against the front of the radiator and im wondering is this my downfall or do I just need more intercooler, this is all in a 65 gmc panel truck so space is fairly tight(you wouldn't think so). il post a link to the intercooler i have. its an ebay special. the one i bought was not a godspeed but looks identical to it. any suggestions let me know.
PS
I also have a meth kit i have yet to put on. i'd kinda like to get the iat's under control and then add the meth as a safety margin THANKYOU

On the datalog I did that was the highest I saw. I let off after it got that hot. The temp cools down quite quickly after you let off. I may see what the meth does if I can't find another intercooler. Anyone know a better 2 into 1 intercooler? What about water to air intercoolers are they ok for the street?

There are two things you can do here. One would be to increase the airflow to you intercooler. Depending on how much your front bumper covers the intercooler directly results in how much air (or lack there of) is really passing through the intercooler. More air = lower IAT's. Now, lots of people (myself included) don't like the idea of hacking a large gaping hole in the front of their bumper so they get maximum airflow to the intercooler, which leads me to the second thing you can do.
Meth. Your meth kit will do a lot. It may take down your IAT's more than your intercooler. Some people just do meth alone without inter cooling as it cools very well, and inter cooling usually robs you of a little boost.

What's the sapcinf to the dad? I have hawed racers reporting that the rad can be an interheater even the cooler is too close. Think they say about 1.5inch + gap to reduce this problem.
Also have you got any pics of the cooler you are currently using?

I have a Treadstone dual inlet intercooler for sale if your interested.
Like this one.

Its been used on a twin 67 427 at 1000whp and held IAT's to around a 40 degree rise.
$350 shipped.

Assuming that his intercooler and IAT sensor are installed correctly, he doesn't need a new intercooler. He already said he has a meth injection kit he hasn't installed yet. The meth alone should take care of the IAT's. Combine that with his existing intercooler, and he will be fine.

my iat sensor is installed in the top of the truck intake where the evap solenoid used to be, ive seen lotsa people run them there so I don't think that's an issue.
my radiator is tight up against the intercooler just because I have very little room to squeeze it all in.
I'm pulling intake air from with in th engine bay which I know is not the best, again its a packaging problem, i'd need some pretty elaborate piping to move the intakes anywhere else.
ambient temp was about 22c or mid 70's F, I have not yet checked the pressure drop or temp drop across the intercooler. its only under boost when it gets hot and seems to cool down as fast as it heats up.
I have about 3/4 of an inch between my electric fan and water pump behind the rad, again not a lot.
heres some pics to help ya out

It would be nice to have a bit more gap between the FMIC and the radiator, it doesn't seem as if you have much of a choice. Do you have any airflow coming from the front of your bumper (as in, have you cut any holes allowing direct airflow through the FMIC)? If not, you can do that and it would help a lot.
Honestly though, your meth kit will solve your IAT problem on its own.

well the bumper isn't really what gets in the way its more the front grill support, hood etc because the intercooler sits so high up. I think the meth will be my next thing to try and see what happens. thanks for the help.

Intercooler is likely getting heat soaked packaged so close the the radiator. The airflow also looks limited as well. Do you have room farther below to fit the intercooler? You would need to run the pipes accordingly but it would surely help. Otherwise, meth seems to be the simplest option.
