either a viper spec or the t56 magnum are the most common choice for 700+ hp cars

very few people have put a tr6060 in 4th gens. idk who has but im sure a hand full of people have.

im making around 700whp and 700+tq. Trans is all stock and the clutch is something i threw in a few years ago. Its all held together extremely well for what it is. Clutch holds except for power shifts and the synchros are starting to get worn but they arent bad by any means.

WHEN i build this, its getting a mcleod twin disc and your normal upgrades from tick performance. If you have the cash, upgrade to a TR6060 and get rid of the T56 (tick can get you a TR6060 that drops right inplace of the t56)

I have the Tick level 5 SuperMagnum tr6060. This thing shifts so much better than the stock T56 it's crazy. Mine car is 900+ rwtq. I wasn't losing the man pedal my car is too nice to turn it into a race car.

Because auto= Racecar…. Smartest thing I have heard today!

West Texas buff did 6060 in his t/a. Look up his built thread.

T400 with no overdrive means not a nice cruising street car for sure... and a 4l80e swap cost as much as the baddest t56-magnum RPM builds

Not to high jack but guys that say auto trans equals racecar...have never rode in on driven a 850+ 4l80 car. Ive converted more M6 guys then I can count...lol

(M6 guy) Hey man Ill never give up my 3rd pedal...autos are gay, autos shift like a slush boxes, autos in stock cars lose to M6 cars all day long....Me ok then lets just take a short ride in my auto car that's gay.....M6 guy 30seconds later **** me this thing is fast and shifts faster then I could ever shift my M6....It never loses boost just keeps pulling....and the brake boostin is ammmaazzzing. It has a trans brake tooo....wonder how much I could sell my M6 setup for?????

Just sayin...

but yes a viper spec t56 for something in the 700whp range to make it last awhile

Your right whoever would say "auto ='s race car" is stupid. You know I didn't write or imply it so don't quote me and expose your ignorance.
I have seen westtexbuff build who hasn't. How about you look at my build thread. Why would I take my 5100 original mile car with a/c and everything it came with (just the way I bought it new cause that's what I wanted) and put an auto in it? My comment isn't meant to be a dig against any auto cars just my opinion for my car alone.

A stock junkyard 80E can cost around $500 and hold more power than a built T56. I have a built T56 now but will likely go to an 80E soon, I don't see the T56 lasting long with 600rwtq trying to haul around a 5000+lb truck

I got a 80 in my car. . . I am in it for way less than a built 6 speed with a clutch.

You are entitled to you opinion. I mean c mon, you pay a **** ton of money to have someone build your car and you are all of the sudden an expert. I am pretty sure you implied that auto means race car. If you didnt then I apologize. Unwad the panties now. . . Oh yeah, my car has a/c too.

Yeah I get where that lost you. But I explained it and you are still dwelling on it. "If" you actually read my build thread you would see where I myself put my car together. I port cylinder heads as a trade. Build motors, setup gears, build automatic transmissions and not as a fix it guy but performance work. NHRA class stuff, sprint car stuff, boats. Legit business, tax number all that crap just like any sponsor here. So your comment about I had someone build my car is beyond ignorant. I built my motor, assembled it, all the head work, selected all the parts individually, custom pistons, custom cam and so on, no kits here. I knew what I wanted on bearing clearances! This is my game. You get the idea now I hope. I did buy a turbo kit. Why? Because my time is valuable and what I did do is pay for the things I'm not setup for. I did install the kit myself. I did pay for a transmission but I have never been inside a stick shift trans so I wasn't going to start the learning curve here. I also payed to have it tuned since I didn't own any tuning software. But everything else from the cage, to the custom catch cans, to the rear gears were installed and built by me. I think I got them panties unwadded now.

Even a standard T56 should be fine at either power level. Power rarely breaks the T56.

Neither the Magnum or 6060 is a straight swap, unless you buy a box that has been adapted for a straight swap, which bumps up the cost considerably.

A lot really depends how much you want to spend. Simply fixing and possibly upgrading some bits of your own box will be the most cost effective.
