Default How to seal the block off plate m12 threads for turbo oil feed line.

Yeah this is really a stupid question but here goes. The block off plate threads are m12 x 1.5. So i'm like perfect, buy a m12 x 1.5 to -4 fitting for the oil feed line.

Well metric fittings are obviously not like NPT where it tapers and you can seal it with teflon. So I need a way to seal this. I tighten it down all the way, and it's tight just not completely sealed so I have a slight oil leak.

Would something like permatex thread sealer do the trick, or buying a viton o-ring? Obviously the stock cars used this port so they had to seal it somehow.

I'm gonna assume you're talking about where the oil pressure sender is? I have mine blocked off with a plug, and I just have a copper washer between it and the block. If I wanted to do what you do, I could just tap the fitting with my 1/8npt tap and viola.

Liquid Teflon may be a better option too. It seems to work much better then roll on Teflon.

Permatex Ultra Black. Use CRC (green can) brake clean and get everything clean and oil free. Then smother the threads with the RTV, run it in and let sit overnight. It'll never leak again.

edit: Do you mean the 2 bolt thingey by the oil filter? If it won't tighten up with it's gasket in place the bolts are too long.

Break all the plastic off the top of the stock o.p. sending unit then drill & tap the bottom aluminum part 1/8 npt. Use a 1/8npt to -4 an fitting in there & the bottom will seal in the block like stock. I did that for my buddy's 5.3 in his 69 Chevelle for a mechanical gauge. Works great & is way cheaper than the adapter fittings we found.

Exactly what or where are you trying to screw this in ?

Is it a flat surface, or rough casting ? ie if flat, a simple copper, Alu, dowty seal might do. Or although it isnt a taper, a load of PTFE tape around the threads would still likely work

Cant think of any oilways on my LS2 block that are M12 though ?

Original oil pressure sender fitting in the LS1/6 block is M16x1.5 as far as I recall. Dont think the later blocks are the same though ?
