Default meth inj or e85 for a midwest car?

I would like to do either or and know the 85 will be a bit cheaper considering I have all the fuel stuff setup for either. I will just need bigger injectors closer to 96lb. I can probably use 80s or 60s for a meth setup. Just a 5.3 stock setup with a 76mm turbo and street car.
But what are your opinions on this?

Should I do the meth inj and if so which kit works effectively?

Or just get a bigger injector and tune it on the 85?

I have done both on a couple of cars. I would just jump to e85 and be done with it. No tank to keep full, no meth hit to tune around. You can make crazy power with e85 and even skip the intercooler. E85 is just easy.

go e85

Siemen Deka 80lb injectors, with enough pressure are good for 850+ rwhp.

e85 all the way. I have those injectors and ran out at about 17psi. FWIW maybe get a bigger injector if you'd like the headroom. Going with fic2000's next. Also I run dual walbro 255 pumps and that is plenty for my current boost levels.

Turn up the pressure, the 80lb injectors will flow WAY more than 2 pumps. I've been 159mph on 80lb injectors at 3340lbs in my mustang and we've made 850+rwhp on several cars.

i use this site and plan ahead when going on a road trip. i have never had any trouble finding e85 but you do have to plan ahead a little. http://www.afdc.energy.gov/fuels/ethanol_locations.html

in a pinch you can run pump gas. my cars were always able to compensate with the trims but you wont want to race that way and it is a pain when you do get home because you have to run out that normal gas and get it full of e85 again before you beat on it.

hp with those injectors is 127*8/.75= ~1354hp, not sure on that pump.

Thats crank horsepower correct? E85 just seems like a hassle. itd be much easier to fill up the methanol tank before a trip and go...im still on the fence... I just did a calculator on line and it said about 950rwhp on E85 with my injectors. so pretty close i guess. I thought i had my fuel figured out...BAH. stupid cars

Been running e85 for over a year now. If I have to go on long fuel trips then I will run the tank low, fill up with 93, flash my 93 octane file, and go on my merry way. For work purposes I always have my laptop on me anyway especially if I were to go somewhere far.

U can always get another pcm with a 93 octane tune and low boost.

Then swap for e85 and full boost

Hooking up a tuner and flashing over to 93 from E85 takes about the same amount of time as it does to punch a destination into your GPS. Swapping ECUs is absurd, and expensive.

If your running high base fuel pressure its pretty easy to crank the fuel pressure down as well. I cranked mine down to 28psi or so base and was able to cruise around on pump gas on my e85 tune.

Only 50. This was on my daily driver 4 cyl.

http://witchhunter.com/injectorcalc1.php

An 80lb injector will act like a 60lb injector at 25psi.

Which will be better? E85 will be easier to tune and safer. But meth injection is more convenient and in the long run may be cheaper.

E85 may be cheaper than premium, but your mileage will be much worse, so you won't be saving on fuel. Also, depending on your area, not every station may have e85, and if you go on any road trips with the worse fuel economy it may be a challenge to keep from running on empty. I have meth injection in my Z, and I fill it up and can rail on the car for every day for weeks straight before I need to fill it again. I've literally spent $20 worth of meth in the last two years (so its cheap). I say its cheaper in the long run because the e85 I'll require bigger injectors and possibly bigger fuel pumps.

But, then again, if you stay in a local area where e85 is easily obtained, then it may be the better choice.

So, it depends on what your are looking for.

Mileage on e85 sucks. On 93 I was around 16 around town not beating on it. E85 was like 10. I would prefer 93 on trips then e85 for beating on it and street racing.

if you want max power out of your setup, then go with E85. If you want to drive your car long distances and dont care about losing some power go with 93 and meth.

I take my car on 3hr road trips all the time but there have always been E85 stations where i go. Got 18mpg on one trip when i made it a point not to hit boost, at all, during the drive. It was hard to do though lol
