I'm blessed by the man above and my employers and co-workers to have such a great group of people to work with that are willing to go out of their own way to work on my car and build it like their own. I wouldn't trade working at this shop for anything as the opportunity I have here is endless. I wouldn't be able to have any of this done, or ever afford it if it weren't for Johnny Atkins, Jonathan Atkins, Joey Anderson and Matt Goings.

I'm sure you know Brian Minshall? This is his old car. LS1tech member 1cdub and Brian did the work when Brian owned it. 1cdub owns a very nasty pump gas LS7 powered F-body that has been 9.0's IIRC.

He did the subframe connectors, torque arm cross member, trans cross member, ARB, 6 point cage and all the front end work. He also custom fabricated a set of SYA bars that have got to be the beefiest SYA bars I've ever seen.

Ok more cage update pictures. Matt decided that he wanted to cut the old door bars out and re do them since he didn't like the way that the rocker bar, A-pillar bar and door bar we're all going to meet up at the floor. So he has cut one side out and tacked in the A-pillar bar. He's working on cutting the other side out now and fabricating that door bar and A-pillar bar now.

Thought I'd toss in a couple more action shots as well. Enjoy!

Here is a 6.43 cam only pass:

The class that we race in has a rule against bull horns which I think is pretty dumb if you ask me since the cars are going bottom 5's and don't look anything like street cars anymore. Most of the turbo cars in the class exhaust sticks out the side of the car anyways, but none are turned upwards.

Matt decided he was going to throw a bull horn on Dean's car though and see if they said anything about it. In the class we race in we are all a big group of friends and things like that don't really matter. Because of that rule though I didn't have Jon@Huron make me bull horns.

They will come out flush and exit into a trim ring in front of each fender.

Thanks Dickie, me too!

I'll have some more pictures later this afternoon for you guys to look at. The fuel tank went in yesterday as well as the fuel filter mount and filter itself, but I didn't get any pictures of that. Once the cage is done it will time to assemble the motor, finish up routing the fuel lines and then it will be time to wait on the motor! From there it's down hill by wiring the car, installing the turbo kit, motor plate, engine and transmission.

Can you put an angle finder on that a-pillar bar? I'm just curious what the difference is between yours and mine. Yours definitely follows the a-pillar perfectly, mine not so much.

Also noticed that your dash pad was in there, great idea for anyone who hasn't done this yet

I am subscribed! Everything is looking great! I can't wait until I can afford to do all of the wiring and chassis work in my car, and finally go turbo again. This might be off topic of your current build, but how much power did you make cam only? And also was that power through the unlocked TH400 and 12 bolt?

I will put one on it in the morning. Matt reads the thread every day when he gets home as I stay later than he does most of the time. He might see your question and already have an answer for me in the morning.

Hint hint Matt.....

Matt left the dash pad in there so that there would be no issue with interference with the cage when it was all said and done. It is a great idea for anyone looking to do an 8.50 cage or even a 25.5/25.3.

Advanced Induction charges 995.00 to CNC the intake and exhaust runners, valve job and CNC the chambers. If you want larger valves installed Phil will probably have to install new seats in the head if you wanted to go 2.20" or larger. I kept the 2.16/1.59 stock diameter valves as I feel they are already large enough for my motor.

Thank you very much. It does get very expensive very quick to do work like this. Making a car safe though is one of the best investments you can do to your car. Especially if it's capable of some serious E.T.

Here is a dyno graph of my car with the stock bottom end, cam only motor. The only modifications to the engine were a custom 239/247 .624"/.624" 110lsa camshaft, a ported Fast 92, 96mm throttle body and 1x7/8" ARH headers. This was unlocked through the TH400, 12 bolt and 19psi in the 275/60 hoosier drag radials.

No problem guys. Here is today's update. Not as much done as we had hoped, but we're getting there. 8.50 portion of the cage is pretty much done aside from the dash bar and door bars.

Then it's 25.5 time!

Matt burning in some welds on the floor plates that the vertical support bars weld to. Poor guy, I'm buying him some knee pads this weekend.

Penetration! Isn't that what we all like?

Diagonal support bars

Rocker bar

Not really worried about looking pretty on the plate welds. Being strong with good penetration is what I care about

That's it! We'll have more on Monday!

Did you happen to get the angle? Is he using a mig or tig? I can see the plates were mig'd but it looks like some of the bars were mig'd as well which isn't allowed for chromoly.
