Default A s475 vs twin on3 70mm

I'm building a 396 ls1 that the shift points is 7400rpms. To push over 1000 plus at the rear wheel ill need to do a billet upgrade and switch to the 80mm wheel with the race cover. So it'll be 700 plus to push my goal. For 700 bucks I could buy twin on3 70mm turbos and push over 1000 as well. So do I spend the money upgrading my s475 t6 or keep it and buy some twin on3 70mm and lot them sing?

I have a 6 speed and a 250 dollar 6.0l short block. I'm going to run the cheap china **** and do twins. if I had a motor worth more I wouldnt run the china crap. but i think you can get 2 turbos,2 wastegates for under 700..

Don't try to put cheap turbos on a 1000hp build. Upgrade the BW and be happy. How many 1000hp cars do you see with on3 turbos? Not knocking them because they have their place and use, but they won't do what you want.

Are you trying to make 1k to the tire or 1k hp? Regardless there are a few cast s475 with big turbine making real close to 1krwhp... you could give it a try and if you need more power uograde it, I wouldn't even considerthe on3 70s over a billet 80mm.

Wicked69 on here is running twin on3 70's and hes into the 9's with his 4000lb chevelle. They are lasting longer than his precision turbos did. Since you got the borg i would just upgrade it.

I love my ON3's worked perfectly for over a year now with Zero issues. If I wasnt making a 1000hp to the wheels I bet I am making that or more now. I now have forged internals and car is 370 now and slightly heavier. I am hoping for 5.50's with it eventually. They run great at the track but instant spool on the street.

Took 4 of my kids riding around town, got some BDubs and jumped on it a couple times. The ON3 blows my precision turbos away!

Bumping this thread back up. Do you think a set of these On3 70mm .96 AR turbos would work well on a LS1 with ARP rod bolts and a M6 transmission? I'm not looking to make 1,000 rwhp, but 700 to 800 rwhp would be nice. Are these turbos big enough for a LS1?

Yes big enough. I'd go twin 76mm and call it a day from ON3 though.

You don't see any issue with early spool with twin 76's?

I think twin 76s will be disappointing in a 6speed car if you plan to drive it on the street a lot
It'll feel pretty laggy with a stock ci/compression ls1

70s will light off faster and should make plenty of power
They might not make as much as the 76s but theyre probably better suited to the engine and they'll definitely be more fun.

There are single precision and turbonetics 76s making 700 wheel, the on3 probably won't do that, but 2 of them would probably be overkill unless you're building a drag car

A billet S484 would make that power no prob but those twin china 70's will too.

I've been tossing around the idea of going FI for the better part of a year now. At first, I was pretty sure I'd go the Procharger route, but now I'm leaning more toward turbo. I'd love to do a twin setup. From people I've talked to, and what I've been seeing, twins are better for a 6 speed/fun street car setup. I just figured since the On3 70's are so cheap, why not go that route, as I'm not building an all out drag car where I need every little bit of power. If I can achieve 700 rwhp, that would be plenty for me.

I actually own both a car with a billet S484 and one with ON3 T70s and my honest take is that they both do the job very well as said above.

I do run the single BW S484 on the "fast" car. 408 w LS3 top end.

Recently the ON3 70s made 705rwhp on about 15psi letting out at around 5400 on accident. Also to note this is the car I drive a lot and will see 3-4k miles this summer I hope so we will see how it holds up. Late season I will try to make 900+ with them for fun. SBE 6.0

Damn, that is awesome. Are both automatics?
