Default Supercharged guys with cutouts, lend me your ear...

So, I'm planning on doing some cutouts to my supercharged D1SC in my sig. My question is; how much do you guys out there see in gains with the cutouts?

A turbo car should see more gains with a gain in boost. An NA car with be different as its not moving as much air. I'd like to have an idea what cutouts might gain me power wise on my car.

Thanks

Depends how restrictive your current exhaust is and where you plan to place the cutout(s)

My exhaust;

Kooks 1 7/8" LT headers, custom 3" ORY, 3" Borla cat back.

I would do dual cutouts past the headers with enough distance not to throw off the O2 sensors.

i would think that a single 3in cutout after the y would be sufficient, that is what i am going to do on my car hopefully next week, but i am also not boosted......yet.

yes i will be doing a single 3'' at the y and i will refer back to this thread to update it with some actual results. im interested to see if it affects torque. not really concerned with hp. sometimes backpressure loss can equal less torque, but considering the restriction of a catback im not sure. in theory it should pickup. ill be looking to see if the blower comes in later or sooner ect.....

370 F1A setup here. I know I'll get some flack from some, but my car picked up 80rwhp opening the cutout. I guess the s/c does not like the center mount and all the tubing. It also gained 60 on my old setup. Went from 15.5 psi down to 14 this last time opening the cutout. I've got 1 7/8 kooks, kooks Y with the cutout right after. Should have went 2" headers 3.5" collector.

I think if I was NA that a single cutout after the Y would be sufficient. But an FI car moves a LOT more air. I'm thinking I would gain more with dual cutouts. I'm just curious to see how much.

One snag I may run into is that on my drivers side there really os only one spot to do the cutout before the merge in the Y-pipe, and I don't know that it will have the 30+ inches away from my O2 sensors. Does anyone have any experience with this? What the distance they used was, and if it affected anything? I could re weld new bongs for the O2's but there is also a science that goes into their placement in the exhaust, and I don't want to go messing with that too much.

well it would be a good test if I8UR4RD did a single after the merge and CALL911 did duals before the merge and compare the results, we could see which one makes the biggest difference. i would certainly be interested in the results

Even if we did, you have to consider his is an F1A on an LS based motor, and mine is a D1SC on an LTX based motor. The results will vary, but should give a good guestimate.
