5.3 block
Anyone running a 5.3 bored to 3.9 and making decent power? (700-800rwhp)
Per my other post, I am building a LS1 for 770-800rwhp, and 13-15lbs boost, and have received lots of comments that a 5.3 bored out is too thin to hold the power.
Don't want to go to an Iron block, and just building something to cruise and play with. Not building a race car.
Thanks

I am being bombarded with guys telling me the bored 5.3 is too thin, and will crack with high hp and boost and I will HAVE to go with an iron block. I appreciate the advice, but I really don't want an iron block in a Vette if possible.

They could be, Im really not sure of the specs. I have just received a tremendous amount of replies saying the aluminum bored 5.3 would crack, blow, etc. if I ran boost and big hp.

aluminum 5.3 bock has steel sleeves ...... 5.7 ls1 blocks have spray on liners..... there a huge difference between the two...... i would build and run a 5.3.... there plenty of l33 5.3 s making that power with stock bottom ends....
